Hypernova is a unique tower defense game. I really like how you can move all of the buildings, so you can adapt to various situations. This is also a game where you can take your time and learn the strategies at your own pace. It's pretty fun, but I imagine it will get repetitive after playing for a while. The game does unlock new creatures and new challenges as you progress, so that makes the game more easily approachable. If you like tower defense games, then you would most likely enjoy this game.

First impressions of this game are quite positive! This is quite a lovely gem, seems like the type of game that was made with a lot of care and love by the devs. It's a simple blend between TD and RTS; the entire game takes place on a single, large map, with the objective of building an interstellar bridge to escape a dying star. You can expand at your pace, to collect resources and build little colonies to grow your population, while defending yourself from waves of nasty critters. The colorful and vivid color palette and general tongue-in-cheek presentation mesh well to create a dynamic but welcoming feel, like a kid's action cartoon. The selection of buildings and towers are pretty standard from their genres, but everything ties together nicely. It's the type of game that is more than the sum of its parts, and so far it has been keeping me interested to see what else it has to offer.
Solid tower defense with some fun concepts. The world is one big map that you progress through, and you can move your buildings around to respond to your changing needs. If you want a traditional tower defense you might not like this, but I found it to be a fun challenge and a refreshing change of pace from normal TD tower placement + maze management tropes. The game is actually more like a base building game with towers - you build civilian buildings to increase your population to unlock tech, support buildings to clear new building area and provide power and provide prereqs for other buildings, harvester buildings to gather resources, and towers to keep the bad guys out. The big map concept is managed well, you're pretty free to expand but you have to manage the enemy threat. It did feel overwhelming at first but once I got the hang of it, I felt like I always had a path to pursue and was generally able to manage the threat despite its source coming from different areas. Being able to move my buildings to new spots to as needed really fit in well with this concept. I enjoyed the feeling of expanding into this dangerous world via careful building placement. I did have a few minor annoyances. There was a stealth enemy type I never figured out how to kill, and sometimes they'd take out supply line elements at range. Building repairers have to be unlocked via tech, and their autorepair didn't work well for me so I had to frequently trigger it manually. I got stuck on one quest for a couple hours, and the game did something at the end that I didn't like though it didn't ruin the ending or anything like that. A couple of spoiler-y hints for those last two (feel free to skip) - Quest:
When the game asks you to trap units for study, focus on that. I spent a couple hours finishing that up after I had my map on lockdown.
End of game:
As the game progresses you can move your defenses to focus on whatever lair is out there. When you trigger the end mission they send massive waves at you where you have to defend your core buildings especially your main base. So before you finish building the Big Final Thing, build or relocate defenses to your main base. I felt like the game didn't give me sufficient warning about this sudden change in strategy requirement.
Over all a fun and interesting game if you want something with towers that isn't your traditional tower defense, especially if you like base building games. It's not super long and I don't intend to play it again, but I'm really glad I gave it a shot.
垃圾中的战斗圾,真的不要上当,一点塔防的乐趣都没有,慢的要死,很卡不说还不能调整视角
Интересная задумка, нравится что можно расслабиться и неторопясь строить свою оборону.
Very good game. Highly recommended.
hello and welcome to my reviews, here we have HYPERNOVA: Escape from Hadea (SOME SMALL GAMEPLAY SPOILERS) the system specs seam quite normal in todays tecnology and should be and standard PC build even if an old gameing unit, however do not underestimate the minimum spec for this game, although a top down style, I had to crank down the in game graphics quite a bit, my system is quite beefy but my gpu is only a rx 460 2gb and this struggled to keep scrolling smooth. now on to the game itself, I was greeted to a colourful toony style graphics and an into that did not suck, I notmally video intro's to games but this one was quite funny, I did not expect a jamacan accent nerration and fitted the game very well. first, the only bad few points I could find, firstly, its not a level style game, its one map only, and the ore did not seem to be random for the few times I re-started (however the jump gate resorces were moved about) so there is not much replay ability in my opinion, The map was sort of broken down into areas where its safer to land in some areas but provide no ore, or more risky landings yeald better ore, this was a bad point to me as the risk was low to gain a good start, I never landed on the platform area where there was no resorces, again shot in the foot with replay abillity, another point to mention is this game is a slow paced building game, but you are pulled along with spawning of enemys, which new ones appear far too quickly vs the speed you can get better towers to deal with them, I was trying to take down huge monsters with a few plasma pea shooters as I did not have the upgrades due to my slower population build style, I wish you had more time to settle a base, or was able to start a war on your tearms, but we would not like it if someone plonked a starship on our coast and mining out ore, I just think there is a better way or starting combat in this game, if the devs put in different maps on the same plannet, and randomise the ore , this would be huge!! that being said, the game play is nice and paced, with not much rushing (maybe a little at the start) the music is nice and non irretating, but switches to combat music badly and I would like to choose to only hear the piecefull music. as I said, this is a top down swivel camera base building with AOE style encathment area buildings, so buildings can buff each other in a area, this can get quite confusing when you have alot of buildings up, What I do like is this game reserch is not based on resorces, yes you do need them to upgrade, but you unlock based on your population, which is a nice touch, but as I said earlier if your slow like me the monsters get too strong for weak turrets. I also like the fact your not really bound to a limit of buildings/turrets, the power your mothership can produce and be upgraded is plenty, in end game I have had quarter of the map covered with space on my power to spare, so although I had bad turrets for ages, I can spam them, couple them with healing towers and its quite effective. there is not much more to say, there are three difficulty settings, I was on easy first time, then I did it on normal, but I really had enough at that point, as there is no encentive to come back, so I do reccoment you play this, maybe when its on offer, but understand as of this review, The one map can take 6-8 hours then your done, thats it, no more. thanks for reading, I hope this was helpfull to someone, I am going to start a review channel on you-tube.
