This is a fun, chill game about trick or treating as a dog for your grounded human. There's interesting dialogue when meeting the neighbors and kids around the neighborhood as well as costumes to purchase with your candy that you can mix and match the pieces of. Don't expect a deep story or anything and you'll have a good time. You can check out some gameplay I have on my Youtube channel if you like: https://youtu.be/uu44qSrAQvU
A fun little dog game. I got a very enjoyable 3 hours out of it, well worth the asking price on sale, but it's also unique enough that I wouldn't be afraid to buy it off sale either. It's not perfect, I got out of bounds in more than one spot, and the camera fog effect got stuck leaving the forest. It's also a bit of an asset flip, but it's been well done in such a creative way I don't even mind. The game wowed me in ways I was totally not expecting. Worked out of the box with my controller. No performance issues. Achievements all popped. Would recommend.
I honestly adored this game. Definitely a lot of adult humor. Dog is 10/10 a Good Dog. Can playthrough and do everything in probably under 3 hours if you don't mess around lol. I enjoyed it even more then I expected. Especially good for Cozy Spoopy
I adore this game so much. Dressing up a dog in cute Halloween costumes and doing silly quests for candy? Sign me up. I have to go back and play this adorable game every Halloween.
This game is a quick, adorable Halloween game focused around Lilpup who just wants to get her human (who is for some reason not allowed out for Halloween) her most desired candy. In order to do so, you must dress up in multiple costumes, help other humans (and some not-so-humans) with some quests, and knock on all the house doors! It's a very simplistic game. Mostly just run around, collect candy, and do some pretty simple quests. 100%ing this game is overall pretty easy, done by doing all the quests and finding all the candy. The graphics are very cute and simple. There were fun character designs, and of course, a wonderful Halloween aesthetic! The costumes for Lilpup were cute and fun as well. The story was incredibly simple, but very cute, especially the ending! I really had a great time. I'm not sure I'd buy the game at full price, just due to how quick the game is (and this was me taking my time and being stupid about a few things), but on sale it was totally worth it! Steamdeck specific, it runs pretty well, but you DO have to change the resolution when you start!
Fun game to play for Halloween. Basically a trick 'r treat simulator but you get to play as a cute dog dressed up for the holiday. There's some quests (appropriately enough they're mostly "fetch" quests - get it? Fetch cause dog?), a number of surprises (won't spoil them but you get to go places and see things you wouldn't expect from the premise). Gameplay is nothing to write home about, it's serviceable for the type of game this is. Plot's pretty basic, what you see on the tin, dog going trick or treating for their kid, is what you get, but that's more than enough to justify the need to run around as a dog in a ghost costume bumming candy from neighbors. Really, you know already if you're the kind of person who'll enjoy this kinda thing, and I certainly did. Not spooky, just kooky in a perfect way for the holiday, fun for all ages, family friendly Halloween treat. Dialog is surprisingly funny, got a smile or chuckle out of me more than a few times. Only question is if such a short game is worth the asking price, and that's a bit hard to say - but I got it on 50% discount, and I can definitely say the few hours I played on Halloween was definitely worth the $5 spent on it. If you want a game to play come next Halloween that's actually Halloweenie and not just some generic horror game, def check this out. Oh and when I had a few questions the dev was very nice and helpful, so that's a plus too. Happy Howloween!
Buggy resolution detection; required a lot of fiddling with GameUserSettings.ini to get the game to even see my native resolution, and I still couldn't get it to go any higher for DSR. Movement is floaty and awkward. Lots of commonly used assets which cheapens the whole affair, and overall, quite janky (i.e. you can continue to bark during the credits). Mildly amusing and appreciable in concept as it might be, Howloween Hero doesn't achieve more than middling, missed potential; certainly not without a lot more polish than currently present, at any rate.
I play this game every Halloween. Short but sweet fetch quest game with dialogue that never fails to make me laugh, especially as this game becomes a time capsule of meme culture of the time. Most quests are easily done with a little exploration of the map to find one of many items, or sometimes other characters. There might be some difficulty with the quests that are done while wearing a particular costume, but again, exploration is key. Blast through it in an hour or spend 2 like I tend to do because I forget where the Gangnam Style guy appears next in that particular quest. In short, please play this game. It's worth the entertainment it gives and the devs deserve appreciation for this little project. Happy Howl-o-ween!
