The core gameplay is deceptively simple: enter a building, kill everyone, and try not to get killed yourself. But every encounter becomes a small tactical puzzle where positioning, timing, weapons, doors, and enemy patterns matter. One mistake usually means death, but the instant restart makes failure feel like part of the learning process rather than a punishment. The masks are also a brilliant addition, giving you different abilities and encouraging you to experiment with different approaches. And once you've mastered a level, the scoring system gives you a reason to come back and chase better runs. But Hotline Miami is more than just great gameplay. Its psychedelic visuals, disturbing story, '80s aesthetic, and incredible electronic soundtrack create an experience that is completely unique. The music doesn't simply accompany the action—it becomes an integral part of it. It's short, brutal, strange, and absolutely unforgettable.
