Hotel Renovator

This game is similar to house flipper. Let me be straight, the whole thing feels half-baked. The gameplay is very repetitive - destroy whatever is inside a room, clean up, renovate and add furniture. Literally nothing else besides sometimes getting interrupted by a random event. The game doesn't even have a way to search for items, instead you have to browse through the entire catalogue just to find what you need. I don't understand the appeal of these scuffed simulators, they are all alike with a few subtle differences, this one is no better.

Did I enjoy playing this game? Mostly, yes. It's exactly the type of game I like to unwind to with a podcast in the background. I liked the variety of stuff, the amount of rooms I can decorate (and redecorate), the freedom I had within the quests. I did 100% it... Would I recommend it? No. The game is buggy, tedious at times and sadly, is now abandoned... :(

This is by far the buggiest game ever. The UI is a mess, doing things is a genuine nightmare. Wanna paint a wall? Paint each square individually while holding down the button. It's not pleasant to play, there's no music and hardly any sound effects. Got this game as part of a bundle and I would not have bought it even if it was on sale. Trust the reviews and don't buy. I was expecting something like House Flipper but instead got a dreadful simulator that doesn't even try to mimic real life logic. Nope, not a good game and certainly not worth any price.

I want to like this game, but there are multiple issues. First- UI is not super responsive. There are a lot of bugs and freezes. Doesn't appear the dev is fixing or updating anything. I played this when it first came out and then stopped. Couldn't remember why. After starting a game from scratch and running into multiple bugs- like not being able to finish painting a room because the wall is bugged and won't let you destroy or paint or change it- but you can't progress w/o being able to destroy/paint it- reminded me of why I stopped. First, the super annoying events and quests that interrupt you all the time. There needed to be a way to disable that crap. Two, the weird crap- like the chicken was sorta funny the first time- but then having to play the stupid dice game over and over- it's old. And the guy at the front desk- worthless. The lack of options to search for a specific item via text instead of having to click through every one of the categories one by one. That UI format just sucks. I love house flipper and this feels like it should be fun. But you can't see the spiderwebs and can only get rid of them with the crowbar destruction tool which often ends up destroying an entire wall in the process. And the limited options for designs. The clunky placement of items. I want to like this, I do. But after a second go around and finding there are no more updates or bug fixes- nope. This goes in my too old/don't like category now.

Hotel Renovator is a simple but clunky tycoon/job simulator game with a straightforward premise. You're in charge of a worn down/trashed hotel and you need to clean up the mess, decorate the place, and get guests in to pay you tips so you can make more money and buy more decorations. Ok. Key problems here are that the game truly is a clunky nightmare, the UI is unpolished and not much fun to use, it's unintuitive to guess the right ways and times to use tools to clean up trash, destroy things etc. Many elements of the game seem a bit like basic stock asset re-use stuff... like the receptionist is basically in a T-Pose standing there doing nothing, might as well be a lamp or a table. If you enjoy finnicky clicking to clean up stuff you'd probably enjoy Viscera or Power Wash Simulator over this. The other key problem is the sheer pricing, which we'll get to, but this is stupidly expensive for what you get for your money. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time and money, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality game this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. Next is pricing and value. Is this game worth buying from among the 140,000+ games on Steam? Hotel Renovator has the laughable price of $25 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. But the $25 USD purchase price is just the beginning, there's an additional $32 in DLC to unlock the full content. Developers who charge a base price and then lock further content behind additional DLC are squeezing gamers at every opportunity. The true cost of this game is much higher than it first appears, the real price of this is more like $57... ouch. Crazy pricing for what you get. For comparison, the $25 asking price for this game could get you games like "Sekiro Shadows Die Twice", "Crusader Kings III" or "Elden Ring". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this. The full price of this game would get you any full AAA game you want, it's crazy pricing. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

I enjoyed this game, enjoyed decorating the rooms to what I liked then just added the bits that the customers wanted. I loved the fact everything was different and all the design's wasn't the same. The missions with the hen where quite fun. I spent alot of time on the game and very much enjoyed it. I would give this game a try if you like running a hotel and enjoy designs and creating things.

Room lightning is visible from one room into the other. Rooms are not well placed (holes between rooms). Lack of placement options (there is nothing more except drag and place). Lack of color options (1000+ types of paint but one type per furniture pattern). Yet it was fun for a bit, until I realized that cleaning the mess takes more than than actually renovating. 3/10
