About
In Hotel 188, there are no monsters chasing you or cheap jumpscares. The fear comes from somewhere else: the atmosphere, the silence, the sound of your own footsteps… and that constant feeling that something doesn’t quite fit.
You wake up in a place you don’t recognize. Time doesn’t move forward, the rooms feel the same but different each time you return to them, and the only path is forward... even though you have no idea where “forward” is. Soon enough, disorientation becomes part of the journey. You start to get lost, doubt yourself, and wonder if you should keep playing or take a break. This is the real experience of the Backrooms. It’s not just about looking, it’s about feeling it deep inside.
Hotel 188 is not just about walking aimlessly. Along the way, you’ll find small puzzles that aren’t just there for decoration. They are part of the world, integrated into the environment, forcing you to think, go back, and observe more than you thought you needed. They’re not impossible, but they are designed to get under your skin, just when you thought you understood what was going on.
Every sound, every flickering light, every room that seems the same but isn’t… everything is crafted to make you feel that this “hotel” has a life of its own. And the worst part is, you don’t know if it wants you to leave… or stay.
Hotel 188 is for those who seek more than just a typical horror game. It’s for those who want to experience the true anxiety of the Backrooms, get lost in them, get frustrated, and still keep exploring. Because you know that somewhere in this maze, there’s an exit… or is there?

Good puzzles. Fun rooms. Creepy Statue. What more might you be looking for in a game like this?
Great game, not too hard not too easy, just right which equals a lot of fun!
Very enjoyable liminal space/puzzle game. Reasonably priced.
tldr: Overall recommended if you like liminal horror. I found it more spooky than scary, puzzles were pretty easy but fun. Only con was the length but I think the length is fair for the price. Gameplay is minimal, focus is on the experience/atmosphere. I also recommend good headphones. i enjoyed the experience, it took me ~4 hours to play, probably would have taken less if I figured out how the save mechanic worked sooner. I restarted a couple times without meaning to. The computers are the save point which is the only thing I didn't catch on to right away. I'm still not sure if saving is automatic or if you have to interact with the machine for it to happen. The game definitely has a minimalist aesthetic and the focus is on the exploration and the visuals, not so much action or puzzles. There are a few puzzles but I think the environment did a good enough job directing the eye to tell you how to solve them. If you make your best effort to explore every corner I don't think you'll have any trouble.
Neat puzzle game. The description somewhat oversells the game, but if you want a brief foray into a liminal world, this one will keep you entertained for a bit.
Nice vibes and maybe the most visually interesting take on the liminal hotel I’ve seen. However, puzzles are more annoying than anything when you’re in a huge maze. I quit right at the end of level two because of this. It’s also a shame that there are a handful of ai slop images used in one of those puzzles. Misc: -Setting shadows to anything higher than Low makes the game stutter constantly when walking. -Vibes aren’t very creepy or claustrophobic.
