Hoo-Boy is a simple platformer in which the player must collect three coins and reach the end of the level. The game is controlled by only four buttons that are responsible for movement.
Mildly recommended for precision platformer fans. Note: Ignore the older reviews, this game now has more levels and other improvements since it was released. I had fairly low expectations and this exceeded them, but not by much. The graphics are clean and the levels are decent, especially some of the challenging sections later on. There are extra incentives to explore as well, such as three coins per level and hidden secrets which unlock cosmetic upgrades for your character. With that in mind, the controls can feel a bit rigid and there is a little too much reliance on being on edges of platforms later on, plus I never like when I can't see ahead and have to learn by dying just to see where the next platform is. Also, the character animation is a bit staggered, made me think there was a frame drop when moving (nothing major), but the other animations seem fine. For the price point, the short length and lack of features is forgiven and the game was ok overall and a bit challenging towards the later levels, just don't expect too much.

It's a pretty standard platformer with an annoying sliding mechanic that slides you off the edge, which makes the game a lot harder than it should be, especially at the later levels. The game has multiple soundtracks which is nice as the music doesn't get boring, although it would be been great if I were able to switch the music or not having the music reset whenever you die as this gets irritating pretty quickly when you have died as much as I have. I've spent more than twice the amount of time on the last five levels than the first twenty which took what little fun I had out of the game. While it's not a bad game, it's not something I enjoyed, especially the last few levels.
