Okay, so I'm only an hour into game-play.. I wont lie, at first, I was just a tad bit frustrated in figuring out the controls, but after about a 20 minute learning curve, the amount of serotonin I got from FINALLY figuring out the game mechanics made it all worthwhile! Upgrading my "tank" has been fun and rewarding and I'm excited to pick the game back up this weekend! Super fun. would totally recommend!
Solid first game from this studio. I love the retro feel, and the sound design (especially the soundtrack) is pretty good. The dynamic lighting caught me by surprise, very snazzy. I adore the main menu desktop PC. My biggest criticism is probably the map, it's very hard to tell which objects have collision and which don't. It's easy to accidentally back yourself into a corner. And the enemies can despawn/respawn to duck under obstacles, which leads to surprise damage (see the top review for elaboration)
I love the art style the most in this game, it's super retro and eye-catching and the creator obviously put a ton of work into making it his own. This is the kind of game you can play over and over again, and will want to because you can get lots of cool upgrades and new guns. It's challenging yet rewarding, 12/10 recommend!
The game gave me early 2000s nostalgia, when flash and java games ruled school PCs. Great game to transport you back to your early childhood. I loved the soundtrack and overall scoring, can't wait to see what other games this developer makes.
Yeah this thing slaps. Do yourself a favor, and play it. All I can do is echo the sentiments of every other reviewer on here. It's rippin' fun and engaging enough to keep coming back for another crack at it, with vibes and design that are unparalleled. There are little things that seem kind of annoying at first, like the UI, but I ultimately came to realize that the UI is kinda clunky by design, and then it ends up being a blast once you get used to it. The game is meant to feel old, and people today often forget that basic web/program design wasn't always as clean and shiny as it is these days. To be clear, the gameplay itself is great, and far from clunky; it just takes a little adjusting to understand how to use the menus efficiently thanks to how soft we've collectively grown with modern menu design. So hats off for making a feature out of something that should be a flaw lol. If I can offer any actual criticism, it would be more of a request than a complaint, as this literally released today; But I would like to see better display settings, as trying to play this on a 21:9 ultrawide monitor is... less than optimal, though many AAA games also struggle with this issue, so can't deduct any points there tbh. The only other thing I could maybe ask for is better colorblind options, because boy howdy was I running into lots of stuff simply because I could not see it, but this is also a me problem, and absolutely does not detract from the quality of the product, which is a very solid 9/10 game from an indie dev. Bravo.
Tons of fun. Not going to lie the game is challenging but game play feels rewarding . especially after you beat a new boss or get to try a new weapon. Lot of fun upgrading your weapons and trying to figure out the new bosses you encounter. Looking forward to playing it more.
Definitely worth the five dollars on god
Good game roam around and blast critters with your tank. Then level up your tank. Good music and fun colors.
Warning to all, this game is addictive... for good reason, in being absolutely worth all the time to play. I use it as a "reward break" in-between work projects. I love how easy it is to set down and pick back up at any moment! It's more rewarding and more fun than other games of it's type.
