the rhythm game portion of the game is horrendously ported
i have my apple account set to japan so i could play the japan versions of games. in this game, it seems to be a global server. however when i try to login to my account using account link on pc, it doesnt allow it due to not being the same server/location? if my account is tied to japan, then simply give me the japan pricing while letting me login from europe. or just disable purchases on the computer while still letting me play. the game isnt particularly generous with gems either, so you have to either save for a really long time or hope to get what you want in less than 50 pulls or spend a lot of money. the lack of generosity would be a bit better if a single wish wasnt so expensive either the songs are released way slower than id like too. they have many existing covers and originals. years of backlog. yet not that many are in the actual game. they seem to be focusing more on the minigames than they are on what the game is meant to be - a rhythm game. sometimes the charts dont seem to match the songs well one of the ina songs on expert is level 28? and has a lot of super fast notes that dont with with the slow tempo of the song, that it feels like muting your game and putting some random song u like on your headphones might fit better than the og song. apparently pc cant do ranked either? cant comment on this, since i couldnt get into my account in the first place and i wasnt abt to just make a new one. the visuals are nice, the chibi models are cute and the card illustrations are pretty, and the rhythm part isnt bad, but that's about it i'd say?

Nice cute graphics and animations, love most songs and the different activities you can do, but I can't recommend it due to the rythm game being too ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to play on keyboard and how many features make it clear this game was not thoroughly considered to be played on PC. Please fix the awful rythm game layout or at least let us edit it and make the HUD smaller
If you wanna see complaints about Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat this is not the review. I do, however, not recommend it for another reason. The rhythm game portion (which is like 80% of the game) is HORRIBLE for PC. First of all the notes all do the same thing. Normal note, flick note, slide note. On PC you just press them or hold them, can't slide, can't flick. This removes depth. And then there's the fact that they just got the touch screen and put keyboard keys on them, and it's like we have extremely fat fingers, because it's supposed to be a 6-key game but you can play it 4-key with how big the hitbox is (some people are saying you can even do 2-key which is crazy). It hurts to give it a Not Recommended because I love Hololive, but before I am a Holo fan I am a rhythm game player. That being said, my complaints are not about the game itself but the mobile to PC adaptation. The game is good and I do recommend for you to try the mobile version if you're interested. Yeah playing on mobile ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks but if you like rhythm games and Hololive you will enjoy it: the beatmaps are fun, the original songs are great and they choose some really good covers. Also I don't think the Gacha matters too much if you don't care about skins or getting on leaderboards, judging by the fact it's Bandori / PJSK inspired you can 100% play it as a rhythm game that happens to have a gacha system and not the other way around.
The game it self is fine, but this are half baked pc ports. probably because the focus it to be mobile first. and with lack of controller support, this are unplayable on handhelds (unless you want to spend time midling with steam input configs). My suggestion, just play it on mobile for better experience.
初めて音ゲーをプレイしましたが楽しめました。 また、ミニゲームのポカジャンなど、ミニゲームだけでも満足感のあるゲームでした。
For what I have to say, just ignore the fact that this is a gacha game or the kernel level anti-cheat, as many others more informed on those matters have already had much to say, although I will mention that I think that this is most definitely not a friendly gacha game for F2P players. The technical performance of this game is frankly abysmal. I can't really play songs on higher difficulties because of the extreme lag, and this occasionally carries over into quite a bit of freeezing during minigames. I came to this as a Hololive fan, but I can not and will not recommend it even to other fans until many of these technical issues are sorted out. Some other people don't have these issues on PC and only have them on mobile, and while I can agree that performance on mobile devices has been worse as far as I can tell, the PC experience has also been exceptionally poor as well for me. (My playtime is quite a bit higher than this as I also play on my phone)
(most of my time was spent played on mobile. i've finished the second area questline if you want a good idea to where i'm at ingame rn) how do you make one of the already more predatory gacha genres even more predatory??? might as well tackle that before anything else if you're a free to play player you essentially get nothing once you finish the main story and all of the side quests. you can get like, one pull every ten days. all other rhythm gachas give you rewards during events which is the bare minimum they could do, but they just don't? at least you're getting 1000 free diamonds in the season pass now, so now you get two pulls every ten days... yay it also doesn't help that banners only stick around for a week, and the pull rates are terrible. 5% for a 5 star card sounds good, but that 5% is spread between every 5 star and the rest of that percentage is spread between the other 3 and 4 star cards. it's 200 pulls to guarantee (which is essentially $400 bucks... yeowch) and that resets with every banner, which again, are only a week long. (also every banner thus far including the upcoming one have all been swimsuit units, which are the most sought after. clever for money making but it leaves a real bad taste in players mouths) when it comes to any gacha game i always encourage people to only play for fun and to not worry about pulling, but this is somehow the exception because its not only stingy, it's required if you want to make any meaningful progression. the final quest of the second area had such a high score requirement and i had to grind just to get the resources needed to upgrade my cards to reach it. i've not had this issue with any hoyo gacha, wuwa, etc. it's so nutty. now to talk about the game itself, holodori advertises itself as a rhythm game first, and the rhythm game portion is serviceable. obviously it has the advantage of several years of hololive music to throw into the game, and some of them are neat foot tappers! and the charts are okay, so long as you haven't played any other mobile rhythm game. sekai clears in that regard, that game's charts a lot more enjoyable it also doesn't help that the rhythm game on iOS seems to be really buggy? i can't speak from my own experience, but when my friends who did play on iOS gave it a shot, most of them mentioned how the rhythm track wasn't animated properly. but holodori also has tons of other little minigames bundled in, but you have no reason to play any of them because high & low is stupid easy and really broken! even aside that, all of the minigames (excluding pokajan lol) range from just unfun or too long for the investment. the only time you'd reasonably bother with them is when the main story forces you to, aside from that there's little to no reason to play them the story is completely skippable. i get that all of the cast are real people, but you could surely do something more interesting than basic idol jargon? the talents supposedly had involvement with the script, but it really doesn't feel like that. they feel more like how they've acted since debut, but the most recent hololive generation available ingame have been streaming for nearly three years now, surely there can be a little something beyond that? doesn't really help that most of the quests are "let's go practice at the live stage! wow that was so fun but now i'm starving, let's go back to holo home!" with little variety beyond that the game is also incredibly demanding and for no reason? 10gb in only a month is nuts, but it also just doesn't feel optimized? an iphone 14 pro runs genshin on high settings at 60fps just fine, but it can't run this game without heating up and draining the battery. what big open world is hiding in the files to cause that? because the small island that most of the game takes place on is surely not what's causing this is it? an official hololive game is neat but it falls short in so many ways, and this isn't even mentioning the insanely neutered pc release. undisclosed kernel anti cheat at launch and highscores don't even get published to the leaderboards?? why??? i can only hope it heel turns since it's only been a month since release but i'm not holding my breath. i wouldn't be surprised if it eos'd before justice got added lol
