Holo Impact : Prologue

Holo Impact is an action packed arcade space shooter. I see it as a combo space invaders/galaxians/asteroids in VR. I like the sound and the graphics and it seems to run smoothly for me (i7 4790k and 980ti). Spaßiges arcade Weltraumballerspiel mit schöner Grafik. Spielt sich wie "Nightstar" aber man kann zusätzlich Gegner durch angucken makieren und hat außerdem noch eine sekundäre Waffe. Wer an "Nightstar" Spaß hat und es bunter, abwechslungsreicher und etwas hektischer möchte, der sollte den Kauf von "Holo Impact" in Erwägung ziehen. Ich muß jedoch auch sagen, das für mich bei "Nightstar" das "Mittendrin im Spiel-Gefühl" stärker ausgeprägt ist als bei "Holo Impact". Wertung: 7,5/10

EDIT: I'm updating my review after ending the game. To finish the game is not easy at all, I took 3 hrs but seeing the world chart as I'm close to the top just a bunch of player were able to do beat the last boss. Holo Impact Prologue has three stages, for almost 15 mins of gameplay from the start to the end. It's like a coin op, so 15 mins alive without continue or credits it's seriously a lot of time. This is a Prologue, if the game received the deserved success a full lenght shoot'em up should come later. But even at this stage, it's a great experience, there are some similiar games like Crystal Nebula or Nightstar but this one is just on a different level. --- Impressive game. Ikaruga meet Xortex with a bit of Panzer Dragoon. Something not very clear in description and screenshots, and a valuable information as I searched for it, is if Holo Impact Prologue is a "real" arcade game or just the last wave shooter in space of the many I tried yet. I mean, like horizontal/vertical shot'em ups, with progression (scrolling different environments and stages) different enemies, powerups, bosses. Luckily it is, screenshots looks very much the same, but it's not just a background, you're going to fly around huge battleship with fire and lasers everywhere, the path is fixed but definitively there is a progress. Details and the overall ship design is good, it uses Unreal (strangely, this one looks sharp and not aliased at all like most Unreal games) and this is cleary visible, as textures and shaders are everywhere. I can't say about longevity just now (in any case relative, in an arcade game of this kind, here you miss also any "credit" or continue so you will start from zero any game) and the "Prologue" in the name make me feel than this is just the start of something bigger. But this game is marvellus, if you are old like me and spend your youth playing this sort of games, this is something you should add to your library.

Graphicas sare decent. Game is straight up old school arcade, I like that. It is like those 2d side scrolling japenes arcade games but made for 3d VR. Well done. Almost like starfox 64 gameplay whic is good. I hughly reccamend thius game, esp at the very fair price for this fun game.

In my short play I would say if you like true arcade type VR experiences then this definately will scratch that itch. Good graphics, smooth game play. Anyone can jump right into it and have fun although as it goes it gets harder. I got this on sale for like $6 so it was worth that much I'd say. Buy it and enjoy it. ミッションクリアまでプレイしての感想です。 お勧めするかどうか非常に迷ったのですが、あえてお勧めしませんにしておきます。 というのもゲーム自体非常に面白いのですが、良くも悪くも古典的パワーアップ型シューティングでして、一度自機がやられてしまうと復旧はほぼ絶望的となり、残機を消費してのサバイバルとなります。 このため最初の一機が撃破された時点でリセットしたくなるのですが、そのための手段がいったんゲームを終了させるしかない点がどうしてもプレイのテンポを悪くします。 加えて、これはうちの環境に依存するのかもしれませんが、きちんと終了してくれずにCtrl+Alt+Delからの強制終了せざるを得ない事態が頻繁に発生します。 個人的に好きなジャンルですし短いながらなかなか楽しめた作品なのですが上記の点からどうしても人に勧めるわけにはいきません。 逆に言えばこの点さえ解決してくれれば数少ないVRシューティングゲームの良作と言って差し支えないでしょう。

I love this, gfx are done well, reminds me of an old arcade shooter, except you in space, no floor, and remote controlling a fighter ship.

I like this game quite a bit. Its hard. Sometimes there's bullets coming from literally every direction and it feels like you are doomed to die. Still really like the game, just wish there was difficulty settings.
