Played about 6 minutes of this game. That female voice after getting the first weapon is so annoying, I turned the game off and uninstalled it. Whatever potential it might have had went up in flames. It's probably gonna lay around in my steam library for several years, until i wonder why i never played this.

Hollow 2, developed by MegaPixel Studio S. A. and published by Forever Entertainment S. A., is a sci-fi shooter that attempts to course-correct from its predecessor by leaning more heavily into action while still retaining traces of its horror roots. Set aboard the abandoned mining vessel Shakhter-One, the game once again places players in a claustrophobic, hostile environment where reality feels unstable and danger is constant. The premise suggests a blend of psychological tension and survival, but the sequel quickly reveals its priorities through a more aggressive and combat-driven approach. The most defining aspect of Hollow 2 is its shift toward fast-paced gameplay. Instead of focusing on slow exploration and atmospheric dread, the game emphasizes frequent combat encounters, often placing players in tight corridors where enemies attack in waves. This creates a steady rhythm of movement and shooting that keeps the experience active, rarely allowing for extended quiet moments. While this approach improves pacing compared to the original, it also reduces the sense of vulnerability and suspense that typically defines the horror genre. The result is a game that feels more like a straightforward shooter with horror elements layered on top rather than a true fusion of the two. Combat mechanics themselves are serviceable but lack refinement. Players have access to a range of weapons, and movement feels more responsive than before, which helps make encounters more engaging on a basic level. However, enemy behavior and encounter design tend to be repetitive, leading to situations where battles blur together over time. The lack of variety in enemy types and combat scenarios limits the strategic depth, and the overall challenge level often feels uneven. While the game maintains a sense of urgency through constant action, it rarely demands careful planning or adaptation. Narrative elements attempt to introduce a psychological dimension, with the protagonist experiencing fragmented memories and internal dialogue throughout the journey. In theory, this could add emotional weight and deepen the atmosphere, but the execution is inconsistent. The storytelling lacks clarity and cohesion, making it difficult to become fully invested in the unfolding events. Dialogue and voice work, rather than enhancing immersion, can sometimes feel distracting, breaking the tension instead of reinforcing it. As a result, the narrative struggles to leave a lasting impact despite its ambitious intentions. Visually, the game presents a mixed picture. There are moments where lighting and environmental design create a genuinely unsettling atmosphere, capturing the isolation and decay of the setting. However, these moments are offset by technical shortcomings, including inconsistent performance, dated textures, and a general lack of polish. Frame rate drops and visual roughness can interrupt immersion, making it harder to stay engaged during both exploration and combat. While the overall aesthetic has potential, it feels underdeveloped and uneven in execution. Despite its flaws, Hollow 2 does show improvement over its predecessor in terms of pacing and accessibility. The more action-oriented design makes it easier to pick up and play, and players who prefer straightforward shooting mechanics may find it more immediately enjoyable. However, this shift also highlights the game’s identity struggle, as it never fully commits to either being a tense horror experience or a refined action shooter. Instead, it sits somewhere in between, offering glimpses of both but mastering neither. In the end, Hollow 2 is a game defined by its attempt to evolve, even if it does not fully succeed. It delivers a more engaging and active experience than the original, but its repetitive gameplay, technical issues, and uneven design prevent it from standing out in a crowded genre. For players willing to overlook its shortcomings, it can provide some moments of entertainment, but it ultimately feels like a project that needed more time and refinement to reach its full potential. Rating: 5/10
it's interesting, i like the idea of the story, but the gameplay is a little stiff but overall i dont think it's that bad of a game
