There ain’t nothin’ that hits harder than Life. A 24 hour cycle of exceeding tasks with not enough time to complete them and a compressing void of emotions that wishes the day would end sooner. It ebbs and flows in ways unexpected in the present but melancholic when looking back from the future. If hindsight is 20/20, then the world has a funny way of expecting safety, guidance, and direction at the high speed pursuit of Now. Sometimes the road is too blurry to manage on your own, too dangerous to pursue, and too overwhelming to endure. You need help. And the world has funny ways of providing it. Nam had just about crashed in that pursuit. After a suicidal-minded act left him in the arms of newly-made friends and now lovers Astra and Dei, Nam has worked on repurposing himself through love and compassion, as previously shown in HITME and HITME2. The trio patrol the streets of Santiago de Chile, selling empanadas through city street vendors and making due packing the three of them into a 1-bedroom apartment. They prop together opportunities to screen movies that mean something to them. They do their best to avoid the homophobic remarks. They relish the time at the club with their friends, Belmo and Terco. They do their best to avoid the homophobic remarks. But on one bustling night, filled with drinks and camaraderie, Dei receives an epiphanized prophecy within themself, a naval skirmish dueling within their head: Dei must make his own movie. About the three of them, who they are, what they mean, and how they got here. HITM3 provides a slice-of-life bite-sized go-around of the days preceding and succeeding Dei’s obsessive objective. You will travel throughout the city as Nem, helping with tasks around town for your peeps like slapping posters on walls (in the public places, thank you officer) and buying cat food. These varied objectives provide most of HITM3’s game length but also spread out the months of time in game between the process of gaining actors and helpers for the film, shooting the film, and then providing it for their group and others to see. I wish there was a little more variety and some objectives get overlapped on other days, with narrative reason, but it feels haphazard. While the genre’s constituents don’t provide riveting gameplay, and HITM3 is no exception to this, the meat and potatoes fill its players with beautifully crafted cinematography and a just-one-more-page script that latches on immediately. Xiri has an impeccable way to not only make their characters interesting, captivating, and diverse at first glance, but fully immerses you in the day-to-day struggles of leaving sale-to-sale and trying to provide solace due to being queer. You can feel the snide remarks and ill intents from all corners and it pains to know that this is not a game trope, but a real life indecency still occurring at a fever pitch in current day. HITM3 clocks in around 2-3 hours, a little longer than the previous two titles, but delicately packs its suitcase to the brim with the baggage of several characters with pristine coordination and composition. Combined with a killer soundtrack and an eye-catching color palette, HITM3 provides a tour de force of emotional bravery and tactful conversations that stands tall on its own, but will make you backtrack for the whole trilogy once the credits roll. A raw queer story without the edges rounded off and made softer. Never delving into misery porn and remaining palpable and real, HITM3's emphasis on queer community and defiance is stellar and a must-play experience.
Hiiiiii gracias for making this game it was fun to play ^_^ its cool that so many cool artists were on this project. I think this game had a good vibe to it. I feel like this series should have a visual movie or choice based movie, my favorite parts were the cutscenes. i would totally watch a movie of this i vote based in maipu or cerrillos, add a mote con huesillo stand in palaza maipu. i would love to see more party rave scenes. i really liked the low poly look and colors, liked the bus ride home. I also like all the details to santiago that match the city irl🇨🇱 🇨🇱 🇨🇱 🇨🇱 🇨🇱 viva chile. i mean i just wonder how they pay rent selling empanadas? they have a nice apartment. i felt unemployed the whole time.

approaches queer interconnection and sexuality with a gentle, knowing embrace. just like in the rest of the series, its front & center relationships are presented in quiet earnest, there’s no need to nod to an audience, and besides if you’re here, you probably already ‘get it’. that’s not to say i dislike continuous explicit exploration of the complexities of queer relationships and identities; a lot of my favourite works of art are like that. it’s just lovely to see idyllic metaphysical threads tying occasionally disparate souls together in understated ways that match my own reality closely – bridging animal and man via unconditional support, enemies via unbarred passions, queer folk via unspoken understanding, lovers via uncompromising companionship; camaraderie through food, art, sex – affection. the pleasant lulls of hitm3’s idleness is imbued into its daily routines, and it’s all quaintly warming in a way badly needed, particularly for me, but especially given the times we’re in; i never got tired of walking down through the apartment and past the gardened walkway to the bus stop each day. this extends to a lot of the audiovisual choices too. the game’s music and character designs are phenomenal and iconic, but aren’t necessarily congruent with the saccharine, overly beautified aesthetic direction most people, including me, have come to expect of slice-of-life games. the vibes are a little weird and irregular, and that rules! but it’s also significantly more tangibly realistic, and lends its charming machinations genuine kindness and safety in contrast. unfortunately, a lot of the pervasive ideas in relation to the three films with scenes reimagined in the game are mostly lost on me since i haven’t seen any of them (thank you for the film reccs!) though i at least felt some inarticulable emotional weight from their in-game presentations in lieu of understanding. this series also gets that men throwing hands is the gayest ♥♥♥♥ ever, but of course everyone knows that; everyone’s a *** after all. It hits hard.
Lovely game where you can help blossom something wonderful with those close to you, love prevails despite the horrors of life.
A warm, playful, touching story about a group of friends/lovers that work together to record a movie about their lives. Gameplay is very simplistic, mostly comprising fetch/delivery quests that complement the plot. What stands out, though, are the stylistic choices - the jarring colours, the likeable characters, the abstract NPCs, the stunning soundtrack, the dramatic fixed camera angles. This, and the story itself, come together to make a short play that feels authentic, heartfelt and unique. Yes, the English translation has a number of grammatical errors and typos, but it really doesn't damage the experience in the slightest (actually, I found it quite endearing) - so don't let that put you off. If you enjoy stories about humans - their flaws, their vulnerabilities, their quirks and their heartfelt desires - definitely give this a go.
Easy to play and lots of room to think but also just a nicely complete story. I haven't played 1 & 2 but I didn't feel lost (going to go play them now!) A very good length and pace. Beautiful sets and cinematography. The intro will hook you!
happy tears
