Highway Hijinks is an endless runner roguelike, set on a never-ending retrowave highway. Avoid or destroy obstacles to see just how far you can make it on this desolate road.

Stack up hundreds of items to upgrade your vessel. Discover 5 main weapons and 50+ powerful items, each with their own effects on your car. Each pitstop is randomized, making every run unique. Unleash your potential, man.

Challenge the Other Guys to a race for 1st place, putting your life, and more importantly, Rare Items on the line. Other Guy plays dirty, so use anything you can to stop them. Rear-end them, shoot them, destroy them. Win by any means necessary.

Add special race challenges for that extra difficulty, and even rarer Items. Be warned, only the most skilled Hijinksters can handle maximum heat. Are you up for it?

The Highway waits for you.

False Advertising. Not really a "roguelite" and should be taken out of that category. Every playthrough has the exact same odds and build, so there's no sense of momentum or lasting progress. You can get 20 minutes in and die in a single forced collision or oddly enough.. be One Shot by someone's defense tower that seems lost in the wrong game, since there's no type of intentional defense against it to make. ??? Is sometimes briefly fun for a few seconds and looks neat, but every game ending crash is because someone in a race forced me into an object and I couldn't do anything about it, or I was surrounded by defense towers with no cover ??? and not able to do anything about it. Really takes the wind out of my sails.
Played the game for the first time at a con and its very good. Met the creator and hes a very nice guy as well. Simple mechanics but a good experience overall.
Excellent little game, please give it a try! It's exactly the kind of cozy arcade experience I crave. Extremely simple on the surface, with a ton of depth you're not expecting!
i love funny driving juice so much that i purchased the official highway hijinks funny driving juice merchandise keychain i love funny driving juice
Pretty cool vibes, I hope new updates will expand on the idea.
Addicting lil game that adds a modest layer of depth to gameplay akin to a mobile game. By mobile gameplay I mean you're dodging/shooting static traffic/obstacles in your way, and most mobile games only exist in that gameloop, however here from the initial game described you will be managing health/energy, trying to shoot enough things to spend time in pitstop shop menus, and engaging in arbitrary races that after the initial race you will be given 'heat' to get free perks/modifiers with all this in mind there's enough variance to strategize and accompany different playstyles. Scuffed (but the good kind) - Progression is rather quick thanks to duration based consumables, and modifiers also being present in the wild outside of the pitstops in the form of cliche yet effective 'orbs' to collect while driving, also once you start making a lot of money/winning races it becomes obvious how jank the modifiers are, by jank I mean the good kinda jank (like cookie clicker, or vampire surviver) like modifiers are stackable/scuffed especially once you start stacking percentage-based modifiers (speed increased by 100%, weapons critical 10%, damage reducation 6%, or my new fav free-money exploit sell item price increased 50%). My best run (spoiler: I blacked out) - It's fun to experiment with the modifiers my best run I hardly knew what was happening because I was in a race that I increased the heat which 'explosive barrels spawn x64' but I had like x3 explosive range/damage stacked with invincibility to explosions so um, I couldn't see what was happening but I destroyed the competition literally all while b-hopping to avoid tower lasers weeeeee. (EDIT: directly after right this review I did a literal hour playthru that broke the game, I got bored of scoring after awhile and just ended the run with my now meta-game which is how fast can I break the game to indefinitely score, my cpu seemed to handle it ok once I made everything speedboosts & had like a +300% status that made the speedboosts last forever, CPu didn't like when obstacles were still present tho lol) Should you Buy (probably, but also it's not the most revolutionary game) - $5.99 feels reasonable for the enjoyment this game has given me, but for most I'd wait for sale because it is kinda mobile game'y. Another review pointed out the towers and yes it took me a min to understand them too, the towers spawn in after a certain score/distance, but you can dodge them by changing lanes or using a jump ability (abilitys are actions you can equip that use energy), and I'm not sure if there's more ways to dodge their lasers. Also late-game races can get hectic when everyones bumping into eachother and you don't have speed boost modifiers/abilitys/consumables because it feels like you often are at risk of dying in those scenarios, but there are ways to get out of those moments/avoid them all together. Early Access?- There is an active discord for this game, which I think is smart for this games longevity, also screenshots of the peoples score getting too high and breaking their game (with like atleast a 100+ modifiers installed lmaoo). It's a weird one, and very niche, but I hope it continues to be developed and beats those mobile allegations, like even if game cosmetics can be changed in the future that would be cool (synthwave/run whatever it's called aesthetic is kinda dated imo), or perma-run skilltrees would be cool. If you're the type of person who drinks 15-second Funny Juice (consumable) while driving this game is for you.
Played the game for the first time at Game con and its very good. Met the creator and he's a Amazing guy. This game has a lot of potential and as i read someone's review i noticed that he's right and I would love to see more tracks in the future with some achievements to shoot for. Maybe adding some story to the game can be good and there's so many ideas to put in it but overall solid game to play in the background of reddit storys or when am bored. and i love driving juice :D
This is a great game with a lot of potential. I would love to see more tracks in the future with some achievements to shoot for. Could be really cool to race against some NPCs that have VO lines as well, adding some story to the game. Again, there are so many ways to go with a game like this and most of the avenues have been at least partially explored already. Can't wait to see what the future holds.
im all juiced up
