Reviews
Not relaxing, but definitely engaging and worth a look if you can handle some movement!
Thank you to Rat Studios for the curator copy. This is nonetheless an impartial review. I had my eye on this one for the Hidden Object Fest, and yeah, it delivered (mostly). You’ve got three modes to play with: Story (help an elder mouse tell the tale of Whisker, the father mouse, through mini-games), Classic 360° (find 100 mice in a full 360 environment), and Random 360° (same idea, but shuffled placements). Each mode has its own save and can be reset separately in the settings, which is great. For full transparency, I cleared Story and about 72% of Classic (27/35 achievements), so this isn’t a full 100% take for the reasons below. But first, there’s a lot of good stuff here. Story mode is cozy, with fun interactions and cute mini-games, while the 360 modes bring actual challenge (those mice blend very well into the environment). The search is split into 6 zones with a global percentage tracker, which helps a ton when you’re down to the last few sneaky ones. You’ve got solid QoL too: fullscreen, separate sound sliders, camera sensitivity, resolution, graphic settings (note: default is set to “very low”), plus you can tweak text color for readability. Zoom works great in 360° mode (none in Story), there’s a hint system for 360°, and you can save and quit anytime. Also, some mice and achievements are sometimes straight-up funny. Love that. And now the big one: motion sickness. The 360° modes really didn’t sit well with me. Even at the lowest sensitivity, the constant movement, zooming in and out, and needing to look around everywhere made it rough. If you’re sensitive to that kind of camera motion, this is not the one. There’s also no brightness option or background color tweak, so the bright yellow menus can feel a bit intense. On top of that, you can’t access settings in-game: you have to go back to the main menu, which is especially annoying when you’re trying to adjust camera sensitivity mid-search. Story mode has its own quirks too. You can’t display all text at once, and the narration animation is slow, which clashes hard if you read fast. You also can’t just let it play while doing something else since mini-games will start whether you’re ready or not once the full text appeared, so you’re stuck following along at its pace. Achievements are fun but sometimes a bit vague, and from what I can tell, you’ll need to explore all modes to grab everything (possibly even a timed one, though that part wasn’t 100% clear). Still, there’s a solid amount of content for the price: about 50 minutes for me so far, with at least another 30 minutes left if my stomach could cooperate. This one is great for HOG veterans that can stomach the movement, but not so much for cozy game lovers. Hope you'll enjoy, but procede with caution! 🤍
For more reviews like this one, please check out Ele's Little Recommendation Corner!
Nice game with puzzles and mice's story. Could be a great fit for kids, to develop attention to detail, logic and learn one or two interesting things :) The best part that there's no ruzzian language in it.
Pretty nice little hidden object game. The graphics is cute, and it's relaxing to just look around and find things at your own pace. Nothing too complicated, but that's kind of the point. Good way to chill for a bit.
i will always play mouse themed games because I have pet mice, but this game I might play and have them sit and watch (they probably wont sit still), maybe it will teach them to read lol
If you start with Story Mode, you are welcomed by a cozy scene. A book lies open on a table and an old mouse begins telling you a story about a mouse named Whiskers, his wife, and their two children. He guides you through the pages of the book, and each page presents a puzzle or activity that you must complete before moving on. The idea is that the old mouse sometimes forgets what he is supposed to say next, so you help him remember by solving the tasks. Most pages show an image where you need to find items that the mouse mentions, sometimes in a specific order. Other pages switch things up with small mini games. In one, you reconstruct a picture from scattered pieces. In another, you click on falling food while also dealing with troublesome creatures like cats and dogs that try to interfere. Some of these mini games can technically be failed, but that would not fit the flow of the story, so the old mouse simply encourages you to try again. Throughout the journey, the mouse continues narrating the story. The presentation, however, could use a bit of improvement. The text appears as white letters on a very bright yellow background, which makes it harder to read than it should be. Still, the story itself is quite short and can be finished in less than half an hour. There is some incentive to replay it though, since several achievements reward you for approaching certain situations in different ways. The bad news is that you can’t skip text, so you need to read everything again. The secondary mode offers a classic hidden object experience where your goal is to find mice. What makes it interesting is the perspective. You stand in the middle of a street and can look all around you in a 3D environment. You cannot move around, but you can zoom in to inspect areas more closely. The challenge comes from the fact that both the environment and the mice are gray, which makes the little creatures surprisingly difficult to spot. The street is divided into zones, each showing how many mice have been found and how many remain hidden. Unfortunately, there is no clear visual border between these zones. The only real clue is that the zone number changes as you move your mouse across the screen. Once you find all the mice in a zone, that area gains color, which finally makes the boundaries easier to notice. Thankfully, you also have access to a hint that can be used as many times as you want, although it has a one-minute cooldown. There is also a random version of the hidden mice mode. It takes place on the same street, but this time the scene is already fully colored and no longer divided into zones, which makes the search even trickier. As the name suggests, the mice appear in different locations every time you play, and they can be hiding just about anywhere. All in all, it is a charming little time waster. It also feels like a gentle introduction to the world of a larger game that is planned for the future.
