Heroes Rise: The Hero Project

I felt like I was on a roller coaster when playing this but in a good way. It had alot more to offer than the first game and it certainly showed that the author worked so hard to provide an engaging story with multiple layers of plot. The main character gets to interact with alot more people and we get to see how our choices shaped the hero we became. Its amazing, I cannot recommend this enough!

This is a review for the Heroes Rise trilogy as a whole, rather than as individual games. Overall: 10/10 Pros: - Amazing story and world. The writing level of these games is equivalent to most professional novelists, while still being variable enough that your choices as a player still matter in the world at large. - Your character is varied enough in their powerset that you can play the game multiple times, without it getting stale. - This series has some of the best characters that I've read in a long time. Cons: - While not a con for myself, the game is clearly entirely text based. As such, it is not universally appealing. However, the level of writing this series has is well worth it, if you are a reader.

One of, if not the best, Choice if Games games, Heroes Rise: The Hero Project is hands-down great. It ties together great storytelling, meaningful player chioce, immersive writing, and a believable world in a way few other games or books do. I don't want to speak of the plot or characters, because you should go into this with a totally clear mind. Needless to say though, if you enjoyed the previous game, Heroes Rise: The Prodigy, you'll love this one even more. Even if you didn't, give this one a try anyway, because it improves on that game by leaps and bounds.

Second game in the series, and a damn good ribbing of reality TV as well as continuing to be a solid CYOA supers game. Everything you did in the last game has knock on effects, and adds up to trouble and intrigue for you! Highly recommended.

My advice: largely ignore some of the more "critical" reviews. I played through the previous game, so I was already invested in my character and their relationships, which obviously helps. At first, the setting made me think I wouldn't like the direction this game was going in, but I felt this nagging itch to progress the story and see how things would turn out. And I'm glad I did. You get opportunities to flex your superpowers, opportunities to prove yourself as a squad leader, to stick to your moral grounding, and to play it how you like with the romance options. There's some pretty good character writing and I found that I could stick to what I perceived to be my character's views and opinions, and their strengths and weaknesses. If you liked the previous one, continue your Hero career.

Its alright, the kind of game i used to play on my phone until i fell asleep. I picked up the hero series after choice of robots buts its appeal can be repetitive after the third or so playthrough. The branching in this series is okay, some things feel shoe-horned, especially if you had a good run from the game directly before this one. But most events you navigate through will have thresholds of effort you build upon, the game does not take kindly to the situational thinker who presents many behaviours, its bad for the press. Stick to lone wolf or team player, kind hero or ruthless hero and your fame/legend score will rise quickly.

Heroes Rise was was defnintely captivating. I will admit that this story threw me off a bit taking the role of a game show, but in the end I liked how it all played out. Also, while I understand the gender and sexuality issues in our society and I appreciate that this story brought them into consideration, I found it very odd that this story focused so heavily on the drama surrounding it.... In short, the story got very awkward in a few places. I will give this story a 7/10.
