Ok.
It's fun and a great addition to the game,
Heroes of Hellas Origins: Part Two is a polished and content-rich continuation of the Heroes of Hellas Origins line, firmly rooted in classic match-three puzzle design while expanding its scope through mythological flavor, varied objectives, and steady mechanical layering. Developed by Jaibo Games and published by Alawar Casual, the game is clearly aimed at fans of relaxed yet structured puzzle experiences, offering a lengthy campaign that blends familiar tile-matching mechanics with a sense of progression and narrative purpose inspired by Greek mythology. At its core, the gameplay revolves around traditional match-three mechanics, asking players to align symbols on a grid to fulfill specific objectives within a limited number of moves. While this foundation is immediately accessible, the game avoids monotony by introducing a wide range of level goals. Some stages focus on collecting particular items scattered across the board, while others require clearing corrupted tiles, breaking stone blocks, extinguishing fire elements, or freeing trapped objects. These shifting objectives ensure that players are not simply matching tiles for the sake of matching, but instead must constantly adapt their approach to the board’s layout and restrictions. Difficulty is paced carefully across the campaign. Early levels act as gentle onboarding, introducing mechanics one at a time and allowing players to understand how special tiles and chain reactions function. As the game progresses, boards become more complex, often combining multiple objectives and obstacles in a single level. This encourages forward planning and efficient use of moves rather than random matching. Later puzzles, in particular, reward players who can identify opportunities for cascading clears and well-timed power-up usage, giving the experience a light strategic edge without drifting into frustration. A notable strength of Heroes of Hellas Origins: Part Two is how it integrates its mythological theme into the puzzle structure. The framing narrative centers on restoring balance and life to a corrupted Hellas, with the god Hades serving as a guide throughout the journey. As players advance, they unlock bits of lore, characters, and artifacts drawn from Greek myth, which provide context and motivation for progression. While the story is not deep or dramatic, it succeeds in giving the campaign a sense of direction and continuity, making the experience feel like a cohesive adventure rather than a disconnected sequence of puzzles. Power-ups and magical abilities play a significant role in maintaining variety and momentum. These tools can be earned or unlocked as players progress and allow for dramatic board manipulation, such as clearing entire rows, detonating clusters of tiles, or reshuffling the grid when options run thin. Used thoughtfully, these abilities can turn near-failure into success, adding a layer of decision-making about when to conserve resources and when to deploy them aggressively. Importantly, the game is balanced so that power-ups enhance smart play rather than replace it. Visually, the game embraces a bright, colorful 2D presentation that prioritizes clarity and readability. Tiles are clearly differentiated, animations are smooth, and special effects are satisfying without overwhelming the screen. Backgrounds subtly change as new regions of Hellas are restored, reinforcing the sense of progress. While the art style is firmly within the casual puzzle genre and does not aim for realism or spectacle, it is cohesive and pleasant, supporting long play sessions without visual fatigue. The audio design complements this presentation with light, thematic music and crisp sound effects tied to successful matches and power-up activations. The soundtrack remains unobtrusive, creating a calm, almost meditative atmosphere that suits the game’s puzzle-focused nature. Audio cues provide helpful feedback during play, reinforcing successful actions without becoming repetitive or distracting. In terms of longevity, Heroes of Hellas Origins: Part Two offers substantial value. With well over a hundred levels and gradually escalating complexity, the campaign can occupy players for many hours. While the core mechanics remain consistent throughout, the steady introduction of new obstacles and objectives helps sustain engagement. That said, players who are already deeply familiar with match-three games may still recognize the genre’s inherent repetition, as the game does not radically reinvent its formula. Overall, Heroes of Hellas Origins: Part Two is a confident and well-executed casual puzzle game that delivers exactly what its audience expects: accessible mechanics, generous content, and a pleasant thematic wrapper. Its strength lies not in innovation, but in refinement and consistency, offering a satisfying experience for players who enjoy structured match-three challenges with light narrative framing. For fans of the genre or those seeking a relaxing yet engaging puzzle adventure rooted in classical mythology, it stands as a solid and enjoyable entry that comfortably earns its place in the Heroes of Hellas lineup. Rating: 6/10
Fun Match 3 (or more) game with a variety of impediments to keep the solving interesting. The only thing I don't like about this game is the required occasional hidden object puzzles that aren't interesting and just slow the fun part of the game down. I wish they were skippable. Works fine on Linux with Proton.
I've played all the others in this series and it continues to be good! Well done devs!
The music is as annoying as ever, and the format is just like all the others. The art work is also just as primitive but there is still enough fascination to keep me playing. It seems to me as if they are making it easier to skip steps, to move the game along faster, but I am only a few hours in to it, so that may change. It's worth a good sale price but I think earlier versions are more worth the full price. YMMV
