Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my gameplay here: https://youtu.be/dJpZPkP3NLI There's a little less than 30 minutes of content here. However, it's completely free. There is no DLC or subscription or battle pass or monetization of any kind. There's currently a total of 3 different experiences, with a 4th one coming soon. The experiences are all modern music theatre type experiences, but mostly experimental or modern opera. All done by very talented singers / choirs / orchestras. The first one is the one I found most interesting because there's 3 huge screens and which one you gaze it will determine which mix of the song you hear. So you'll hear 3 different mixes of the song depending on where you look. It's very intense. I enjoyed it. The second one is a short opera where you're in a 3D environment. Amazing talent on display. The last one is an even shorter opera where you're like in a square kaleidoscope. Again, done by a very talented singer. I enjoyed all the experiences. If the words "experimental opera" intrigue you, then I'll think you'll enjoy this too.
Imagine a panoply. One that's observed from a plethora of iridescent views, encompassing a multitude of possible futures. You'll be shocked to the core, feeling like you're piecing together an aleph with marvelous veins from over 1000 columns using a Persian astrolabe.
And that's just the first experience, one that you can repeat over and over to (un)ravel the events and audio in literal three dimensions. HERE is a PCVR title that contains several different virtual opera-inspired musical theater experiences, each with its own approach and setting. I had heard of Michel van der Aa's win for Best Immersive Work at Cannes International Film Festival 2025 for his VR creation "From Dust". I was even about to go see it myself at the Holland Festival, only to find the showings got canceled or something. Which was a downer, seeing that VR is a niche to begin with, and catching innovation in these experiences even more so. So I was thrilled to see Van der Aa's work accessible on Steam this way, perhaps offering a glimpse of what his full works are about. I recommend anyone with an open mind to try HERE, and get immersed in the high quality audio. Even if the "story" of these performances can be rather out there and incomprehensible, the quality is top notch. Seeing as most of these experiences are non interactive and show a (flat/SBS-3D) videos, I am very curious what the upcoming ingame experience, Eight will bring, hopefully something more volumetric/3D-rendered: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAct_U26Ip0 If so, then HERE truly shows Van de Aa's versatility in bringing experiences to (PC-)VR, and I am glad that this title is freely accessible to anyone with a VR headset. Go give it a try!
Nice modern opera! The lyrics are very deep and invite you to meditate, reflect, and understand the singer’s feelings :)
While the music is not really my cup of tea, this is a nice multimedia art presentation merging audio and visual arts.
