Very enjoyable story with lots of JRPG elements and great music. Was surprised by the sheer amount of different soundtracks in just 1 hour! of playthrough.
Heralds of the Avirentes is a very promising game that would definitely interest VN enjoyers as well as those looking for games where dragons are present as characters, rather than big bad monsters.
Something big and potentially devastating is coming, and our protagonist, a young om’verai named Azaries, finds herself in the middle of it all. Either by sheer chance or through the deliberate effort of some unknown party, she ends up being a key figure in the future of the world, or so we are told (as you’ll soon learn, some characters are not above lying or manipulating to make things go their way). And while it comes with some nice perks, like having a mysterious guardian angel watch over her, it also comes with some serious downsides: this special status puts our protagonist in the crosshairs of more than one force wanting to use Azaries to further their own agenda. Her own opinion, of course, doesn’t factor into their plans. This means that many om’verai you encounter on your journey (including those Azaries believes she can trust) are likely to have ulterior motives, and even her mysterious protector is as likely to be her jailor as they are to be her guardian. In such difficult conditions, you will have to defend yourself and your travelling companions in battle, all the while managing relations with your party members, which promises to be rather challenging, as getting along with one could often mean becoming enemies with another. The combat in the game is your classic turn-based dialogue window combat, with some extra details thrown in for added complexity. So far, it seems a bit simplistic, as most of the time you are just repeatedly pressing the “kick ass” button, adjusting for the enemy resistances. However, the combat and character progression have enough depth to remain engaging, as evidenced by some of the more intense or clever combat encounters in the game. As for the primary pillar of the gameplay - character interactions - they are executed quite well. During her travels, Azaries will encounter a lot of different characters. While some of the episodic side characters occasionally tend to yap too much, the interactions and the dialogues always feel insightful and fresh - from trying to appease a certain character by saying things they would appreciate during an encounter to navigating a mess that Azaries had made of her romantic relationship before you, the player, got involved. The characters themselves, while not particularly subtle, are nonetheless charismatic and memorable. My only complaint about this aspect of the game would be the fact that the dialogue options don’t always provide the player with enough information to understand how the interaction will play out depending on their choice. For a shoestring solo project, the game has a surprisingly rich audiovisual component. Its art, while somewhat unusual, features tons of illustrations, hand-drawn sprites, and background images. Same goes for the soundtrack that contains more than a hundred unique tracks. That’s not to say that the textual component of the game gets left behind. The story and the worldbuilding work in tandem, strengthening each other to create a very compelling interactive narrative. With all that said, the game is still being actively worked on, so it comes with all the usual drawbacks of an in-development project. A missing localization string here, some funky UI here, some character interactions need to be tweaked a bit, while the balance of some combat encounters requires further adjustments. But most importantly, the main story of the game is not entirely finished. This means that, on the plus side, you will be able to directly witness the development process (and maybe even influence it), but it also means that you won’t be able to finish the game until said finale gets implemented by the developer. Despite that, it’s not like you are buying some empty promises. Between a good chunk of content that is already available in the game and the free DLC that essentially constitutes a whole separate game in both structure and size, the game has plenty to offer.

If any of that sounds like something that might be of interest to you, I can confidently recommend that you purchase this game, or, at the very least, wishlist it to revisit the project once it hits full release (which, with the sprightly pace of development, looks like it’s going to happen sooner rather than later).
Доволі новий для мене жанр, після 2 годин гри можу сказати що мене затягнуло. З великих плюсів є якісна українська озвучка та велика кількість інтерактивності.
I found out about this game earlier this year and I have been enjoying it so far. What I like most is the story and music for the game. I recommend giving this game a try if you're into visual novel games, definitely worth playing for sure.
Доволі цікава гра. На перший погляд доволі примітивна і наївно дитяча. Проте по мірі просування по ігровому сюжету ти перестаєш помічати як тебе це перестає хвилювати і ти вже поринув у всесвіт Нанрасу.
A great game with very interesting visuals. A lot of hand-drawn work went into creating the artwork, making it very charming and beautiful. The Ukrainian voice acting is a special highlight of the visual novel, it is very good and adds depth and emotion to the characters. One downside is that the sound sometimes drowns out the charming voice acting, which slightly spoils the impression. Overall, the gameplay is engaging and immersive, and you quickly grow attached to the main characters. I recommend it to all fans of the genre!
Not often I get to play games where small choices shape protagonist's character, make her say different things out of player's control, etc. The story and characters seems good so far, especially some subplots. Choices seem to mater more than in other visual novels considering it's affected by deep stats system. It's interesting to see how the story will branch closer to the end. Best wishes to the developers!
I like games where you can discover a well-written world, where every character has their own personality, problems, duties, and worries; these little details make the world feel alive. You also can keep exploring the world by replaying the game and choosing other destinations in developing Azaries' personality because all your doings have an impact.
