A dark lesbian horror/romance story so toxic it's emitting spores. Ethel, a shy university student, ventures into the wintry woods late at night, where she meets an enchanting femme fatale — but all is not as it seems.

About

Ethel Briggs is a shy, self-conscious girl in her final year of university. Though she should be working on her thesis about Romantic poetry, her well of inspiration has run dry. After a nasty break-up with her former girlfriend, Clementine, Ethel is feeling very blue — and it certainly doesn't help that she's spending the winter holidays in the depressingly drab village of Oxbury, while her family are off holidaying in sunny Australia.
Left to her own devices, Ethel struggles to finish her thesis while the cold, wintry wind blows outside and the days continue to get shorter and darker.
Staying inside proves to be unbearable, however, and Ethel escapes the confines of her family's home for a breath of fresh air. Going for a walk in the woods should be enough to invigorate her, and fill her with newfound passion for Romanticism.
That was Ethel's plan, at least — but she wasn't counting on meeting a mysterious, dark-haired beauty in the woods, who is much more than she seems.

I dont really read VNs (this is my first one actually) so im not equipped to compare it to anything, but i can say i liked it! I was interested after seeing the art on Twitter awhile ago and am glad i finally got around to reading it. The music is great too and really added to the experience for me <3
Coming from It Gets So Lonely Here, I was honestly expecting an improvement since this one was paid. In short, I grabbed a few buddies to VA with and... We got bored by the midpoint of the novel, I ended up skimming through the rest solo to see what'd happen. While it gets more interesting later on, it simply isn't worth the time or money. The novel constantly berates you with metaphors that really lose their spark after you've seen the ninth or tenth one in a row, I thought the writing prose was really awkward to read at times, and honestly it was just a slog to get through. The idea sounded really interesting and the latter parts really live up to that intrigue that's found in the trailer! But ultimately it's covered with so much padded text in the beginning that'll knock you into a slumber before you get anywhere near the interesting tidbits. If there's anything else to take away, it's that less is more. Strip away at the meaningless descriptions of the sidewalk, or the way Ethel walks through the forest and you'd have maybe a 1-2 hour long novel that's constantly keeping you engaged. I'd much rather shill out money for that than something that feels bloated for the sake of word count. 5/10, interesting concept but it's execution could've been baked a lot longer.
