Ringsel, the developer’s muse, is in trouble, can you help her with her daily “activities”?
Developer / publisher “NSFW18 Games” is up to its 8th game with Hentai Day – Ringsel in Trouble. At the time of writing this review, they have created and released 10 games. So one can expect some quality and consistence in this game, based on the experience developing their past installments.
Ringsel, the exhibitionistic protagonist in the adventure, gives a peek into her daily interests over the course of a year, through a series of pictures and photos. For the ease of use, she has divided up her photobook into the twelve months of the year, with 5 photos each month, each picture being a puzzle, making for a total of 60 puzzles in the game.
Up to the player to recreate these pictures by means of puzzling them back together. From jigsaw-cut pieces, to simple squared pieces. Puzzles are very small in size and very easy, expect about 20 pieces per puzzle, somewhat 2 to 3 minutes to complete per puzzle.
Puzzle pieces snap into place on the playfield, accompanied by a sound effect, this works rather satisfying and rewarding. Pieces also snap together with one another, when the correct sides are matched, the whole block can be moved afterwards.
Most pictures are of an erotic nature, though 10% of them are x-rated. Images do not seem to come from the same artist, which gives less integrity in artstyle, a negative point... Some of the pictures are rendered and very realistic, while others represent a more, hand-drawn, cartoony style. Nearly all images are tastefull and somewhat artistic, with the perversity level kept to a strict minimum. Some of them have multiple versions, with small changes to them. Like clothes showing or not... All can be controlled using a slider upon completion of the puzzle. All photos can be accessed easily afterwards by means of a gallery, through the main menu.
Background music is done quite well, with a series of soothing, catchy tunes. Sound effects are on par with the rest of the program. Seems like Hentai Day is somewhat above average on this aspect in comparison to other games in this already over-saturated genre of x-rated puzzle games.
Beware, the game is programmed quite resource heavy and will run sluggish on lower-end pc’s. The initial loading time, at starting up the game, can take as long as 4 to 5 minutes on a less performant machine.
Twenty achievements can be unlocked, easily achievable in about an hour of two. Which makes Ringsel in Trouble excellently suited for achievement hunters and completionists. No grinding has to be done in order to unlock all of the achievements. All achievements can easily be unlocked in a single playthrough. Puzzles can be rushed by spending ingame money, as well, to speed up the progress of completing all.
To conclude: I enjoyed this game quite a bit, especially liking the smaller puzzle sizes, completing a few puzzles now and then, en-route to achieve another perfect game to add to my profile page... All this in a relaxing manner, though there are some time-based puzzles, which are easy to finish within the given 3 minutes. Main reason for me to purchase this title on a sale, where the easy achievements and perfect game. Once completed, this is a game i will not come back to again, however.
Recommended for: casual, puzzle gamers, hentai lovers, achievement hunters and completionists.
