The most complete review and introduction of Helltaker
The public's perception of hell is usually a stereotypical and old idea that has existed since the early days of history until the 21st century, something like an Archetype (not exactly in that meaning, but something similar and familiar). When the name hell comes up, the human race subconsciously goes for negative things. Well, that's natural. Neither you nor I went to hell and came back and described what filth was in that world. Completely evil, uncivilized, and naked creatures like our ancestors (even I sometimes think about it like that). Many people, based on their beliefs and religion, think that the way to deal with these demons, Satan, hell, and... requires a supernatural move. Things like a prophet, a holy book, and faithful companions. But now I'm thinking, why don't we befriend them instead of fighting them? Let's be friends with them, have a cup of coffee, fall in love with them, play strategy video games (Preferably turn-based), smoke cigarettes, do research, ♥♥♥♥ each other, telling stories and bring them down to earth and show them the ways of being human (and make some pancakes together). What if I told you that instead of cavemen, there might be demons, civilized people in fancy suits and polished shoes in a historical setting, organized as a public company with the aim of maintaining the balance of hell and the balance between good and evil???
It's been 6 years since the release of Helltaker by Polish Lukasz Piskors (aka Vanripper), and even though it's been a long time, it still maintains its small and sweet popularity. On the occasion of the release of the new Helltaker comic and at the peak of expressing love with this game, now is the best time to sit down and take a full look at this game…
Story:
(Warning!!! This part contains complete spoilers for the game's story, it is recommended that you experience the game first)
Our story takes place in an unknown but close time (probably 2020), from the mouth of a narrator named Beelzebub, the main character is a nameless man with a gigantic Gigachad body from the Polish regions nicknamed Helltaker (who I'll call him Taker for short). One day, Taker wakes up and has a strange dream, a harem with demon girls. Mr. Taker can't stand it and that's why he wears a Stylish outfit suit. And he decides to enter the world of hell and create a harem of stylish women for himself. Mr. Taker overcomes obstacles step by step, gets involved with the uncivilized horned demons of the Gigachad male regions of hell, and on the way he meets 9 attractive stylish demon girls and adds them to his harem:
Pandemonica: The Tired Demon with hair like a beehive and glasses, works in the customer service department of hell, from morning to night, always tired, a cup of coffee is enough to turn from a tired demon into a Sadistic Demon, his horns grow, there is nothing special about him, he just might trap you somewhere after that coffee and want to torture you and enjoy it, that doesn't hurt at all, don't worry (of course, if you don't give him the wrong coffee or the coffee is cold or tastes bad)
Modeus: The Lustful Demon with a series of hearts above his head, a symbol of lust in hell, he wants to enter the final phase of a romantic relationship with his partner at the same time (You got It, right?) She's a good girl, she just might want to smash your head with a long hammer, that's fine
Cerberus: A demon with three bodies but one brain with cat-like behavior, she uses every opportunity for evil, of course they seem young, they're still considered children, so let them use the opportunity and ruin the world
Malina: Lady Malina, nicknamed Sour Demon, is a young, Grumpy girl, a gamer of Turn Based Strategy games, an expert in all kinds of alcohol, attractive and lovely, (I think you get who's my favorite demon?) So lovely that I want to kiss her lips (=, as long as you're a gamer, no danger threatens you, if you're not, that's fine, Malina might get angry and that's when, in addition to Malina, I might want to cut your head off your bod…
Zdrada: Lady Zdrada, nicknamed ♥♥♥♥♥ demon, sister of Lady Malina, a psychotic and badass girl who enjoys harassing herself and others, loves fighting and smoking and…a charming demon like her sister, the relationship between these two sisters is very bad and Zdrada always bothers the poor Malinka, it is really a pity that the best characters of Helltaker have so much hatred from each other, but maybe one day they will finally appreciate each other and we will witness a dramatic scene =)))
Azazel: A curious little angel, That's Right! not a demon, like that 20th grader, loves research and writing, this little girl does not kill Taker but instead sends Taker directly to heaven to Michael, the archangel, to judge you, awesome, now the harem has turned to ashes
Justice: Lady Justice, nicknamed the Awesome Demon, is a powerful woman but at the same time has a big and kind heart, she has a bitter past, Lady Justice was once the High Prosecutor of Hell, in one of her epic battles she lost her sight and She quickly retired, this young lady is the trusted friend of the CEO of Hell, sunglasses give her a unique beauty, during the game she is the only demon who does not harm Taker, Lady Justice's cool and good-natured personality is a suitable choice for everyone (of course, sometimes she does naughty things XD)
Lucifer: Lady Lucifer is the CEO of Hell, a fearsome and majestic woman who can melt you with a kiss, the most powerful demon of Hell has a favorite meal of pancakes, when it comes to this life-giving juice, Lady Lucifer becomes Mr. Taker's favorite woman, Lady Lucifer was an angel in heaven long ago, her thirst for control over mankind drags her to the depths of hell because Lady Lucifer is a woman whose courage has proven that her powers are beyond heaven and the highest angels, and all the demons mentioned owe their essence to this great woman...
Finally, with many tears or by listening to Lady Lucifer's advice to skip the steps with a cheat, we arrive at the last option of the harem..
Judgement: A woman with a terrible appearance who is the current High Prosecutor of Hell, a woman who, despite her appearance and morals, Our Demon is kind, unfortunately his position has put him in a suffocating situation, she's also a fallen angel like many others
But Mr. Taker eventually adds this lady and escapes from hell, in the end I see Comrade Taker eating pancakes with the ladies of the harem and everything ends well and happily (I lied, a much more bitter and probably painful ending awaits everyone)
All this was said by the ambitious exiled lady Beelzebub who caused Lady Justice to be blind, a stylish woman like other demons
The end
There are many other things I wanted to say about Helltaker, namely the continuation of the story, which unfortunately cannot fit in this article, shame…
I will summarize the rest, the gameplay of the game is solving a few puzzles and riddles from easy to difficult, nothing special, Master Vanripper is a blessing from God despite his unique art, the music of this game is so wonderful that I am sure it was ordered from hell itself (maybe Mitssies is a demon from hell, who knows)
Helltaker once again proved to me that the video game industry is not just entertainment, but deserves the position of the eighth art alongside other arts. For me, this game is the older sister of The Coffin Of Andy And Leyley. Although these two games have toxic content, they offer a window of anger, joy, sadness and excitement to the audience. In my opinion, Helltaker represents indie games from Poland… In the end
