Hegis' Grasp is a story-driven, atmospheric survival horror game. Play as Henry Wood, a curious journalist investigating rumors of what is happening to the once peaceful village, Hegis. It will be up to you how this story ends, but first, you must survive the insanity of the natives within this damned place.

Hegis' Grasp: Evil Resurrected certainly looks like an asset flip, but it isn't one. While a lot of stock/placeholder assets have been used that weren't created by the developer and weren't replaced with their own custom professionally made assets, they also properly credited the asset creators as they tried to make a game out of all of this. What game? Hegis' Grasp: Evil Resurrected is a "survival horror" (which just means horror, really, doesn't it) first/third person shooter where you fight some supernatural assets and plod through a really bad story in an even worse game. Before I get into the weeds with all the problems here, it can be summed up easily, the developers were simply far too ambitious and bit off more than they could chew... they simply lacked the resources and talent to produce the game they envisaged. The result was, predictably, a disaster, and it proves an old axiom of game development... it doesn't matter how much work goes into a game, what matters is the resultant quality. Sure, a huge amount of effort is required to make a magnificent game... but a huge amount of effort can go into a game and it can still fail. Bad ideas in game design are one fault, another, simply lacking any of the skill and talent to do the difficult job of game development properly. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game assets are fairly mediocre/low quality, in some places they appear mismatched... Ultimately the quality of these assets, and thus the overall visual quality is lower than average, and low quality always makes for a less than optimal gaming experience. Remember, we're looking for the best of the best of 100,000+ games on Steam. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. The controls and game handling are notably very clunky, sluggish and unsmooth here. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing. They dropped the ball on this one. This feeds into the real theme here, the game is simply an unpolished, buggy mess. Whatever potential the narrative had is unreachable as gamers just don't bother getting into it. The poor quality is too much of a deterrent. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Hegis' Grasp: Evil Resurrected didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for "Necessity", killing the first enemy you encounter, trivial to get, but less than 37 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, even the people who own this game weren't interested in it. The poor quality of this game is also reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 6 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you download this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? The game is currently free, but the developers were charging money for it. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration, but this is also in some ways an acknowledgement that the game failed to achieve any commercial success (unsurprising due to the quality issues). It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. The quality here is simply too low for me to recommend, even for free.

My friends would block me if I recommended this game bad/bad
I never thought I would, one day, experience genuine fear and terror in a video game. If you're a ♥♥♥♥♥, don't play Hegi's Grasp. You will ♥♥♥♥ all over the floor and your parents will find your dead body in your bedroom the morning after. This was such a fresh and exciting experience that it cured my blindness and restored the life of my deceased father and cancelled my parents' divorce. 11/10 would recommend. Pls buy this, even tho it's free.

I had a good feeling about this game at first. It had a spooky atmosphere, I could tell that the devs certainly were inspired by game like Silent Hill and Resident Evil 4, since there are many similarities to them in the style and story. Let's start with the basics: Gameplay: It's pretty solid except for some big major flaws. It's an FPS/TPS game without crouching or jumping which are essentials in those types of games. In the end I had to stop playing it because I literally got stuck because I couldn't stop. Another flaw is that there are save points in many places so sometimes you have to replay a part over and over again before you advance. There are checkpoints at times, but usually they're just at the start of a chapter. There aren't that many guns and they aren't very effective except for the shotgun, but ammo is so rare around at the beginning that you have to rely on meléeing the enemies all the time and it's not a bad thing since it's not that hard to kill them. A few good headshots and down they go... but within here lies a bit of a problem. Enemies: Mostly it's crazed villagers that attack when they see you. There are also these plant monsters or something that look similar to the morphers from Dead Space. Not that it's a bad thing, they have their own very unique look to them and they were terrifying at first, but... a big but. When you kill a villager or any monster, they respawn back as a different version of the plant or whatever monster. And they just... keep... coming. After killing anything, about 30 seconds later, they will turn into the respawned monster and they keep doing that after every death, pretty much making only occasionally killable enemies, since they come back. While they are all quite easy to kill, so are you. A few hits from the villagers, you're dead. Two hits from the plant-monsters, you're dead. It can get frustrating because having to use the melée weapons all the time, it's hard to hit them in the head and plant monsters have tons of health, so basically this semi-shooter action game because a run-away-from-everything game, unless it's a boss fight. Sounds: Oh my goods the sounds. The sound design in the game is AWFUL. The monsters scream WAY too loud at the get-go and the design is all over the place. Even if the monster is right in front of you, in the headphones it sounded like they were coming from behind so it kept confusing me, thinking there was a monster behind me. And the voice acting. What can I tell? They're amateurs at best. And it sounded like one of them had to record their lines on their own computer with a really low-quality microphone. The music is nothing special to expect either. Pretty everything is royalty-free music. Graphics: It's easy to tell that most of the graphics are preset items, but you can also see that they've done some work on them because most things look unique and help out on the atmosphere, but the constant rain in the game can make it run slow and the frame rate drops in many places, especially when you're streaming it. Sadly, as I said in the beginning, it started interesting and strong, but with all the flaws of it, I can't recommend this game. It turns into a weird, yet somewhat interesting FPS-adventure with a curious backstory to it, but the sound flaws, the bad acting, the rare save points and battle system takes the fun away from the game. I'm glad to have experienced the game, but I would not play it again unless they really fix the most fundamental issues with it. It shows they have a passion for this game and they are making more content for it, I only hope they fix the things I've mentioned. If they don't, I'll never play this game again.
This game is nothing memorable, but I was having fun especially after I bought the PPŠ-41 with infinite ammo but towards the end - when you have to choose the final path - everything started breaking down. Every time I reloaded the save the game bugged in a different way: once the inventory didn't open or I couldn't use the items, another time the entire map was a big glitchy bug. I managed to complete the game for pure luck and even at the end I encountered a bug because the credits didn't start. Speaking of credits, if you click on credits in the main menu, they will start normally but will get stuck in the last lines forcing you to use alt+F4.
