Not what I was expecting, I was thinking this would be like an old school Quake game or Duke Nukem, or Doom, but it's more of a corridor adventure game with some combat thrown in here and there. I didn't like going around in circles looking for keys to open doors with nothing happening. I guess if you like games like Hexen where most of the time is looking for what to do then this game would be more up your alley.
An incredible boomer shooter with rich mechanics, deep lore, and an enthralling narrative. I loved playing this game and intend to go back to play on Bearzerker at some point (which is a special melee only difficulty). The pacing and balancing was great, and I actually really enjoyed the boss fights in this game. I admit I did look up a secrets guide, but only because I didn't want to miss anything. Highly, highly recommend for anyone who loves this kind of gameplay
One of the best boomer shooter titles around tbh, a HUGE sleeper hit.
That game has transfem vibes
Review for Hedon: Crystal Heart (the first campaign; didn't make it to Bloodrite). Really wanted to like this game. The first level is low-key a masterpiece with amazing level design. The GZDoom engine is perfect for the charming artstyle and the atmosphere and fantasy setting are excellent, Thought I'd found a gem. However things devolve pretty quickly after the first level. The game alternates between enemy spam and key hunting/backtracking as the two forms of challenge - the former of which exposes the limited shooting mechanics and enemy variety, and the latter of which completely kills the pacing as you sprint around empty levels to find the item you missed. The story seems like it could have potential after the start but it's not well written, and is ultimately told to you rather than showed to you. Really couldn't have cared less about it when I was playing, which is usually fine in a fast paced boomer shooter, but this one tries to be a slower paced immersive sim, so it kills the intrigue. Finally the art of the characters... I appreciate the general concept the dev was going for and I never mind a bit of T&A in games if done well, but the sprites ultimately feel pretty amateurish, deviantart-esque and lacking in understanding of anatomy/proportions, which kind of kills that aspect as well. Character designs look like sketches out of a highschool emo kid's exercise book. As a Doom mod, it's long, ambitious, fairly unique and kind of impressive. But as a fully fledged game, this doesn't hold up to some of the truly elite boomer shooters we've been getting recently. 10 hours for the first campaign and 20 more for Bloodrite sounds like a real drag to me at this point when there are so many better games to be playing. I'd give it a 'mixed' if I could, but this one's a no from me, sadly.
This game blew me away. It's everything I want from a boomer shooter. Part 2 does get a little crazy traversing the big maps looking for quest items. But the gunplay is great, bosses are mean, and the world is fun to explore. Looking forward to the third game!
хотел метала и море крови, получий квест рум и чуть чуть месива
This is a truly righteous gem of a game. To just get it out of the way, this game is horny. It's very horny. But it's only mildly NSFW... No more than an R-rated movie would be. The horniness actually made me sleep on getting it. Tall muscular women are,,,Kinda my thing, and I didn't really feel the need for another Karlach to drool over. I'm not ashamed but just... I got room mates, ya know? All that said, the gratuitous cleavage actually seems to make sense with the lore of the game, somehow. Don't ask me how. It just does. Anyway. The game. One of the best boomer shooters I've ever played. A shining gem of what a determined artist can create if given the time and resources. The game really strikes the balance between peaceful and cozy and absolute all out carnage. Some of the levels (especially in the first episode, Crystal Heart), I just wanna chill out and live in. The weapons are all awesome. The Crushbow and Hellclaw are my favies. PRO TIP: Add in an alternate binding for reload (Dev allows multiple keybinds per function, bless him) because some weapons have special functions when reload is held. Something that lets you have full access to your WASD because holding R makes using them awkward. The only criticism I really have for the game is that it can be overly complicated and cryptic at times. If you don't play the game for a week or two mid-level, be prepared to not know where the heck you are and what you need to do. So give the game the Dark Souls treatment: Try to play it without a guide, but don't be ashamed to use one if you need it. There's a really good walkthrough on gamefaqs (What is this 2004?) and another good one with maps on a Steam community page. Seriously, get it. It's a blast. And it's got orc babes.
Spielerführung am A*sch! Pfui bah.
i only played the game for one hour but i can already recommend it for the old fps vibes :D a hidden gem...
