Honestly, I wasn't expecting this game to be so good, but it's really a very good game and incredibly fun to play with friends
HeadHunters is dangerously fun. And yes, I’m one of the developers, so believe me when I say this carries extra weight. I’ve worked on other games before. Good games. Games that sold well. But there’s a familiar pattern when you’re a developer: by launch time, you’re usually… done. You’ve played it too much. Tested it endlessly. Broken it, fixed it, broken it again. The magic tends to wear thin. This one didn’t. I’ve played HeadHunters a lot. And by “a lot” I mean an insane, borderline unhealthy amount during development. Yet somehow, it still doesn’t get old. That alone is a pretty strong sign that something went very right. Fun fact: on launch day, instead of being exhausted by the game, I was playing 1v1 matches with my son. Just for fun. No testing, no debugging, no checklist. And we had an absolute blast. If a game can still surprise and entertain the person who helped build it, after that many hours, it’s doing something special. And if you’re playing it for the first time? You’re in for trouble. The good kind. 😄 PS: my son won 😅
I saw this game on a reddit thread and in exchange for some kind feedback, i was given a key to try it. I really enjoyed the smash atmosphere and visuals, felt comic-like, and the ideas for the characters were fun and interesting. I had seen a comment that it may have been developed with AI so I'm not sure what to make of it as it is just a first impression. Side note, i am not a fighting or smash player much. The voice does sound polished enough, would like more voiced dialog with the CEO character. The sfx didnt really make an effect good or bad. The controls take a bit to get used to and avoiding certain death with a dash is not going to be easy. most of the actions are on the top of the controller instead of SSMB with a combination of button and stick movements. The charge is a little slow and i wasn't sure how much of payoff i would get for a max charge. The story mode is fun but, spoiler, i found level 7 as a 2v1 very difficult as they just kept super attacking after each other. I also didn't see any purpose for the green coins other than to retry in story. The main menu is ok, could be presented better as "Story Mode," The "Tell us" button is not selectable on controller, and its really not going to help the game to make people give you an email when you can redirect them to the steam page to leave a review. For 14.99 its ok but the game itself is faily shallow. For a casual non smasher like me, i cant see it worth buying when i have Guilty Gear, CapcomvsSNK, MK, SF, or DC Injustice. For someone who sees the trailer though and wants what that has, it delivers on it.
Playtime: enough to know this thing slaps
This game is absolute madness — and that’s exactly why it works. If you’re tired of platform fighters that feel like watered‑down copies, this one hits different. You literally control the head and attach it to whatever body you can steal. It’s stupid, chaotic, and ridiculously fun. Gameplay is fast, messy, and way more strategic than it looks. Playing as a head only or with a body completely changes the match, and once you get the hang of it, you realize there’s a surprising amount of depth here. The bots aren’t useless either — they actually fight back and keep you on your toes. Performance? Rock solid. I’ve played it on a high‑end PC, on low‑end hardware like N100 systems, on Steam Deck, and on Linux. It runs smooth everywhere. More games should be this well‑optimized. Story mode feels like a love letter to 90s fighters, and the sound effects hit hard. Every punch sounds like you actually accomplished something today. No microtransactions. Let me say that again: NO MICROTRANSACTIONS. You unlock characters by playing or using in‑game points. Beautiful. Bottom line: this game deserves way more attention. It’s original, polished, and fun from the first match. If the devs keep expanding it, this could become something huge.
My suggestions (in case the devs are listening):
Demo Mode with automatic bot matches “Own Body Only” mode “Head Only” mode for pure chaos
1st online game i played it was fun but it did crash ruining my win.. I know its in early access so i figured it was worth noting.
An arena action platformer/Deathmatch for 1-4 players, where you defeat opponents by controlling characters in the form of heads that can detach and attach to different bodies. A fast-paced, fun game. It features 14 characters, a single-player story mode, and short matches where you can play alone with bots or with other players locally or online (up to 4 players). Your goal is to knock opponents off platforms into the abyss or kill them by any means necessary. As a head without a body, you push opponents with dashing jumps and can use a special skill. If you attach your head to a body, you can use various weapons and deal significant damage. [u]You can read other reviews and subscribe to our curators. So far I think this is a really fun game. It has interesting mechanics and the gameplay feels good. I can say that while the graphical style appears to be made for mobile in the trailers it does not seem that way when actually playing the game, it looks very stylized and exactly where its supposed to be. I will say there might be some balance adjustments that need to be made but overall its a great time solo or with friends.
No way! Guys! This is way too intense for my nerves. Just look at this thing! Body-swapping! Out of nowhere! Unbelievable. I just pick up this skin of a grandma with curlers on her head, and the chaos begins! For real! ++ Split screen. That’s exactly what we need right now for this evening get-together! Bravo
guy shoots, the guy dies. Everything's fine, I won. Again. real blast..I've been looking for this for ages! ****** enjoy< dude******** Strange as it may seem, I spend most of my time in mid-air (-_-), but that’s exactly how I’ve won the most! Just jump more often to gain the upper hand, and get behind your enemy to take them down! But it’s all thanks to the awesome weapons and unique mechanics!
