Haunted ROM: The Lost Cartridge

Еще давно я познакомился с серией [b]Dread X Collection[/b], где некоторые демки со временем перерастали в полноценные хиты. Сейчас подобных антологий в Steam навалом: одни предлагают пачку коротких, но завершенных историй, другие - набор концептуальных демо-версий, где игроку предлагают оценить уникальную механику. И вот я наткнулся на [b]Haunted ROM: The Lost Cartridge[/b] - очередной "винегрет" из ужастиков разных жанров. Задумка отличная, но, к сожалению, это [b]одна из худших коллекций[/b], что мне попадались. Тот случай, когда картридж лучше бы так и оставался потерянным. Я не буду разбирать каждую игру отдельно - описания вы можете глянуть ниже. Главная беда сборника в том, что многие местные проекты с трудом тянут на звание хоррора. Да, пугающие элементы встречаются, но они настолько беззубые, что атмосфера просто не цепляет. А геймплей? В большинстве случаев это [b]примитивные мини-игры[/b], где от вас требуется нажимать буквально одну кнопку. Тут просто [b]очень слабый контент[/b]. Игры не цепляют ни механикой, ни сюжетом, ни атмосферой. А некоторые поделки и вовсе сломаны. Например, в самом первом проекте нужно бить огромным крестом по земле, чтобы увидеть невидимых демонов. Концепт прикольный, но уже через 5 минут мой крест объявил забастовку и перестал работать - пришлось выходить. В другой игре вы вообще управляете какими-то пиксельными точками, ищете книги и решаете пазлы. Выглядит вырвиглазно, играется скучно и совершенно не страшно. I tried every game in the horror jam pack. While some of the games were visually interesting and at least one game was good enough to become a standalone, the majority were bad to unplayable. I love the idea of jam packs and if these games were made over like a weekend that is pretty cool but don't go in with high hopes of finding the next big game. Shadow Peddler was the one game that genuinely felt like an attempt make a game that with a few tweeks and additional content could be sold as it's own game. This is one of those situations where I wish there was a mixed review option as most of these games I would not recommend but a few I would. I guess the negatives outweigh the positives in this case.

A nice collection with interesting and fun experiences! There is a little bit of everything inside, and some are pretty scary :D

Esto parece un rejunte de demos de juegos en fase alpha. Hay uno o dos que pintan bien pero los probás más tiempo y no pintan más bien XD.

Interesting game! Some more scary than others. Nice retro looks as well, pretty fun :)

I played all of them. Got some jump scares haha. There are some that I hope they update and improve some more, but I enjoyed it. Also for the price, I think that's worth it.

normally horror anthologies are a mixed bag, some games will be good, some will be bad, most will be ok. somehow, whole thing was completely unfun. rare miss from steam horror anthologies. big bummer

Reseña de Haunted ROM: The Lost Cartridge No por tener toque retro de cartucho multi juegos, ya se debe de llevar todas las alabanzas: El menú de opciones solo aparece en dos juegos, el sonido es ensordecedor y muchos tienen un brillo malísimo y mareante para la vista. Para salir de los juegos tienes que «cerrarlos» desde la barra de tareas o matarlos desde el administrador de programas. 3 de los juegos son injugables y ni tan siquiera abren. En su mayoría son todos de sustos sin sentido y Scarejumps porque sí. No se le puede llamar juego a una cosa que no puedes jugar.

A coletânea parecia ser legal no começo, o primeiro jogo "Blind Faith" me fez querer saber mais e explorar mais para descobrir o que tinha no cartucho. Mas ao decorrer dos outros jogos, a experiência foi ficando cada vez mais monótona.. até o momento que não quis mais continuar. Infelizmente a qualidade dos outros jogos e progressão deles me fizeram cansar e não conseguir prosseguir com a história, a narrativa não prendeu. Tem grande potencial, mas não o vejo ainda como versão final de um jogo.

Let's start with a good overall: 10 games in 1? And good games? For only this price? Sign me up. Now for the long review: Haunted ROM is an interesting game anthology, that even includes a hidden story (noticed this with the hidden in-game terminal). Each of the games has personality, with some being longer and others more short. But in many senses, each game is fun and unsettling in their own manner. While some look to be very traditional horror, there are some that are more horror-themed and not really from the horror genre. But to be honest, for me that's a plus. Talking a bit about each of the games, my personal favorites so far are Cult of Ascension, Ukryty and Shadow Peddler. Found Santa Epistola to have a very beautiful and unsettling art, and the story in Hallway Paradox was really something. Really enjoying it so far! Recommend it a 100%!
