The Haunted Hotel series runs a bit short in general but, at two hours including the bonus game, this is unforgivably short. The game lacked detail and the bonus chapter even re-used the same scenes. Stay clear of this one even on sale.
setting aside the story/plot that's kind of meh, there are some really basic problems with the game. mostly the crashing and freezing. i don't know if it's because it's an older game that was ported over from Big Fish or what. all i know is more than once i was either dumped out of the game or had to do a hard forced exit when the game decided to forget how to run. and then there's the lack-luster game itself. the hidden object parts were meh at best. the mini-games were forgettable. there just wasn't enough there to really hold my interest. if it had been one of the games from the Beginning of the series, this would have been a hardship. i would have been heart broken that i couldn't see the adventure with the main character through to the end. as it was, only my obstinacy forced me to. i don't even remember if i Bothered to play the bonus chapter. if i could, i would give this game in total an over "Meh leaning toward Eh." so in closing... Sorry (not sorry) to say this, but this series is dead, Jim.
A bit short, but nice illustrations.
I highly recommend this game. 5 stars. It is also the last Haunted Hotel hidden object game (# 20)
An interesting game, with lots to find, but the story is very short, and that is the disappointing part. There are 2 other small games to play after you've played the main game and the bonus game, but they too are very small, although against the clock, they can be a lot more fun. I although have got a timer of 5 hrs in game time, I actually only played it for about 3.5 hrs. It's just been left running whilst doing other jobs, e.g. cooking.
What absolute garbage, do not buy this. 1) Utterly random, nothing is explained or is even connected to each other. Pointless and baffling. 2) Terrible voice acting. 3) Screaming audio for no reason. 4) Unforgivably short, which is even worse for a 'collector's edition'. 5) Story is non-existent and nothing is explained, even though the game asks you if you've 'been to the hotel before'. BFG should be ashamed of this lazy, low quality, random trash. I've played the Haunted Hotel series before and was impressed enough to buy more of them - what happened?!
A bit disappointing compared to the rest of the series. The plot was meh, and there were some hitbox issues that remind me of the horror that is Domini games. Hope this series doesn't go in that direction.
Fine enough.
*Uses item in the correct area, doesn't work* *Gets frustrated, uses Hint button* *Hint reveals using same item in same area* *Uses same item as before, now the game decides it will work* Absolutely idiotic, and this happened multiple times.
charming graphics, lots of puzzles and HOG
