This game is absolutely stunning! I cannot believe this was created by a solo developer. The visuals: 10/10 (this hazy, dreamy, almost glowy atmosphere evokes such a feeling of anemoia), the music 10/10 (it's got this lo-fi, pop-ambient feel that takes you to another world), the gameplay: 10/10 (It's chill, it's mellow, there are challenging moments, but overall, the controls are easy and the physics-based movements are JUST unpredictable enough to keep you glued to the screen). I'm in love & I hope all the cozy gamers in the world will get to experience this masterpiece. The developer has such a tear-jerker story too! He built this game to overcome hardships in his life: cancer & death of a family member. He poured his struggles into Harlow and programmed her to find the light to the darkness that he couldn't find at the time. Just... beautiful. Great game, great music. Go get the OST!
Harlow is a joy to play, the visuals are stunning, and the music is a total bop. A delightfully chill game overall!!
Saw this game on r/indiegaming and it seemed cool. I love the art style and music its slick af. All the robots are wholesome and adorable, and the writing is charming and funny. Simple controls, almost feels like it was made for touchscreens? I was surprised by the challenge, but it's a good balance (I'll cop to using the aim assist feature a few times, not ashamed!) Things I'd love to see added in: 1. Online Leaderboard for completion times. I like that the game tracks your time and number of jumps each level, but I want to know if I'm actually good. 2. Achievements! You don't have to do trading cards, those are hella dumb, but I'm still a sucker for the cheevos. 3. More spaceship stuff! I won't spoil the unlockables but I love them, I want more. And skins for Harlow!
Fling your little robot through puzzles and story to unlock confetti and streamers. Physics based platforms had me worried about difficulty, but it's perfectly casual, enjoyable and charming. https://youtu.be/yyCmDp_hvj8
Super cute physics based game. It's got a cute story line and amazing music. The colors within the game are very pleasing to the eye as well.
This is a fun and cute game and the levels so far offer a bit of a challenge but they're not impossible to complete. I like that even if you mess up you just go back to the checkpoint and try again and there's basically unlimited tries. Additionally being able to replay a level to get a better time or less jumps is there if I should want to beat my current scores. The story itself has got me curious so far since finding a secret or two that might explain why this planet is full of machines and could be habitable for humans, but there's no humans around. The controls for this are great. I do prefer to use a gamepad to play but mouse works pretty well. I appreciate that you can also invert the controls so you can move Harlow more like a slingshot rather than bump them forward. I can't wait to see how much of a party I can have built up by the time we land. While I did win a copy of this game for free from a streamer, I plan to buy and gift it to a few folks that I know would enjoy it.
If you're in the mood for a wholesome platformer, Harlow is the one to pick up Watching the trailer I figured I'd enjoy this game but I wasn't expecting to get addicted to it When I first sat down to play it, the one hour I set aside for playing it somehow slid into three. I was really enjoying progressing through the game and outfitting the ship with cute party supplies (I'm nothing if not a sucker for unlockables/collectibles!). But even more importantly, I kept falling into that ever-elusive flow state you always seek out in games. It's always great to find a game that has both tight gameplay mechanics and a well laid out level design that allows you to reach flow state. As someone who prefers a controller I've been really happy with how the gameplay feels with it. Also the music is fantastic as well- the soundtrack would stand well on its own even outside of the game
While I'm only early into this game, it already has plenty of charm and challenge to it. Simple to control, tricky to execute, the flow of motion and the super chill music, with the soft toned atmosphere makes this a great game to settle in for and enjoy.
Harlow is a 2d plateform, control a circular robot with simple gameplay into 4 differents worlds Graphics (6.5 / 10) : The graphics are simple, but help for fast comprension of each obstacle / traps of the game. Each world have his own design, but each level of the same world have more or less the same graphics design. Gameplay (7 / 10) : Base gameplay is really simple, you control a robot who cannot move, and you have to aim and use you’re double jump for avoid trap and completing simple puzzle (pushing a rock for example), you’re double jump are restored when you touch the ground or a wall or the celling. Each world have differents obstacles to avoid. First level are pretty easy, but further levels will challenge you. Each world have 10 levels but each level into a world have similar gameplay part with others levels of this world. Also the game have a optionnal ship (main hub) to complete with decoration to create with colleting “data” into each level. Price (6 / 10) : The game cost 11 euros, and the game have 4 worlds to explore with 10 levels each (40 levels in totals), take around 4-5 hours for complexion. Story/Music/Optimization (6.5 / 10) : A simple story, mainly for introduction of the game. The music is good, differents smooth music into the game. No problem with optimization, played with the base graphics option of the game, run well without any freeze (played on a i5, 2Go VRAM and 8Go RAM) Final Note (6.5 / 10) : Harlow is a chill 2d plateform with simple control, with 4 world and 40 levels, but the game is also pretty repetitive. Recommended on sale. + : - Simple control + simple first levels, challenging levels at the end. - 4 worlds with differents traps - Hub to upgrade (adding new decoration) with progression. - : - A little too repetitive - Pretty short (around 4 hours for complexion)
Been waiting for this game to come out for a while and it lived up to all my expectations, with the added bonus of such an amazing soundtrack.
