it inspired me to start a life long drug addiction
The game quickly becomes repetitive and boring, with puzzles that lack variety and fun. The controls are often unresponsive, which spoils the experience. Overall, it feels dull and unengaging, not worth the time.

I've been trying to clean up my steam library and never got to finishing this game up. I finally decided to come back, and give it another try. Its challenging, and very frustrating in a good way. If you like puzzles, this will be a fun grab for you.
Fun little game. Not perfect, but very easy to recommend if it's on sale and you want some cheap fun for a few hours.
Hamilton's Great Adventure
Hamilton’s Great Adventure is a brisk puzzle-platformer built around speed, timing, and squeezing every bit of treasure out of a level. It’s the kind of game where each stage is a short challenge, and your real goal becomes replaying it cleaner and faster. The main twist is controlling two characters with different jobs: Hamilton does the ground work while Sasha the bird lets you solve problems from another angle. Swapping between them turns simple platforming into small “how do I get past this safely and quickly?” puzzles. Levels start straightforward and gradually pile on traps, enemies, and tighter routes that punish sloppy movement. With more than 60 stages, the campaign lasts long enough to feel substantial, especially if you care about perfect runs and high scores. Offline co-op is a fun option because it lets two players split the roles instead of constantly switching. Coordinating movement and timing can make tricky rooms feel more like teamwork than trial-and-error. Visually it goes for a colorful adventure look that keeps hazards readable, which matters when you’re moving fast. The overall vibe is light, and the game’s structure fits quick sessions well. The biggest downside is its age: it’s officially listed as supporting only older Windows versions, so getting it running smoothly on a modern setup can be hit-or-miss. Some parts can also feel repetitive if you don’t enjoy replaying levels for better execution. Overall, it’s a solid pick if you like tight, score-chasing puzzle-platformers and you’re fine with an older PC title’s quirks. If you finish the main game and want a tougher extra challenge, the Retro Fever add-on is aimed at harder, more retro-styled stages and additional achievements.

Hamilton's Great Adventure is an isometric puzzle adventure crafted by Fatshark, woven with the charm of ancient treasure hunting. Four distinct realms await travelers: South American jungles, desert ruins, frozen snow caverns and exotic temples, holding more than sixty stages alongside a Retro Fever expansion packed with extra challenge levels. In solo play, thou mayst switch freely between the explorer Hamilton and his feathered companion Sasha. The man can only tread tiled ground; fragile slabs crumble once crossed, barring all backtracking paths, while the bird soars unbound to fetch high hidden loot and overlook the full layout. Only their combined wit shall uncover the golden key to unlock each exit, and thou gatherest glittering relics to climb global leaderboards. Local two-player co-op standeth also at thy disposal, each soul controlling one character to split tasks, evade traps and wandering sentinels side by side. A wealth of mechanisms fill each stage: bounce pads, elevators, lock gates and patrolling golems, with difficulty rising steadily through the journey. Early levels prove gentle, yet later mazes interlock tight, one misstep trapping thee in a dead end; speedruns and full treasure collection are tracked on dedicated scoreboards. Cel-shaded visuals glow warm and bright, paired with upbeat exploratory melodies, each region bearing unique scenery and foes tailored to its terrain. The game supporteth both keyboard and controller, runs smoothly on humble hardware, and demandeth scarce storage space. Yet unavoidable flaws remain. Its tale unfoldeth only through short comic strips, thin and shallow without intricate twists, serving merely as a backdrop to stage clearing rather than a compelling narrative. The tile-locked movement limiteth fluid navigation, and rotating the camera oft obscureth hidden trinkets in blind corners. Total content is slim; once main and expansion stages are cleared, no new challenges arrive, leaving only repetitive score-chasing that breedeth weariness over time. No online multiplayer existeth, only split-screen local play, so distant friends cannot adventure together. Most puzzles follow familiar formulas, their solutions easily foreseen after multiple runs, lacking unexpected clever twists. The game hath aged much, compatible chiefly with older Windows builds, suffering occasional stutters on modern systems, and no official Chinese localization is provided, requiring foreign language skill to read story hints. Weigh all its merits and flaws: its core charm lieth in paired character puzzle-solving with well-balanced difficulty, paired with soothing cartoon art perfect for short leisure sessions, and local co-op bringeth doubled joy. Those who relish light grid-based brainteasers and offline collaborative play shall find delight here; yet if thou seekest deep storytelling, online matchmaking or endlessly inventive riddles, it shall leave thee unfulfilled. Among early indie puzzle diversions, it standeth a polished, agreeable work worthy of casual play.
