Welcome to Taoyuan Village to heal your loneliness.
Here, you can lead a carefree, self-sufficient life: farm, tame animals, raise livestock, fish, and build a prosperous homestead.
Or, immerse in village life, meet kindred spirits, find love, and influence their destinies with your choices.

Whether it's the labor you put in or the relationships you cultivate, every drop of sweat you shed will bear fruit. In Taoyuan Village, no effort goes unrewarded.

There are nine major occupations: farming, forestry, animal husbandry, fishing, tailoring, cooking, construction, mining, or martial arts. Which one do you want to excel in?

Upgrade your house, furnish it with decorations, and create your ideal countryside compound. "Where the heart finds peace is home."

Befriend wild creatures—train them as assistants or keep them as companions. The world may be frayed, but little paws mend it stitch by stitch. (And yes, those with hooves or wings count too!)

The villagers may be few, but each has a past, a story, and their own flaws and virtues—just like real people. Treat them with sincerity, and their attitudes toward you will change. You might even alter the course of their lives.

Experience vibrant festivals—Spring Festival, Qingming, Dragon Boat, Mid-Autumn—along with grand Chinese-style weddings . Immerse yourself in the most traditional Chinese flavor.

At the current version of V1.1, I would recommend this game but with caveats: Things I like: - It's a really charming farming game set in fantasy ancient China. I've never played a farming game in this specific setting, and you can tell the devs were passionate about delivering this aesthetic. - The villagers felt charming. There is the sense that you are part of the community/are like family to the villagers, so it's quite nice. There feels like there's variety to the spouse candidates, from young adults to middle-aged adults. There's even a spouse candidate who already has a child. There are no gender restrictions when it comes to marriage. - Lots of gameplay settings the player can control. Examples: ability to toggle invincible mode so you don't die during boss fights (or any fight), can shorten/lengthen the day, can toggle off the mini-games, etc. - To keep this vague/spoiler-free, the plot was unexpected. When the plot twist was dropped, I was intrigued since I had never seen this concept explored in a farming game. - At first the bartering system confused me, but now I don't mind bartering to get things. It's a bit of a different take to how currency is used/generated. Things that I wish were different: - There are no seasonal changes in this game. No visuals of autumn leaves, winter snow, etc. Just the crops and fruit trees bearing fruit at different seasons. An in-game reason is provided for why no seasonal changes occur, but I really wish they could've added visuals for different seasons. - Minimal post-marriage dialogue or interactions. I am personally holding off on marrying anybody, since if you take a look at other user reviews + the devlog notes, they are still planning a marriage update. From the devs, it seems like marriage might be at minimum 2 updates from now, and it's unclear how long that will take. So if you're buying the game at the current state, be aware that there is barely any marriage dialogue and you can't have children. - I wish there was fruit/vegetable preservation or pickling that was available. Near end game, I felt like I was just the village wine-maker instead of a farmer in general. But this is a minor gripe, I just wanted more processing options. Conclusion: In general, I thought this game was charming and I enjoyed it. The selling point is definitely the fantasy ancient China setting. I didn't have any particular expectations going into this game, so I walked out pleasantly surprised that I did end up liking the villagers, unexpected plot, and the urge to catch all the mounts/tameable creatures variants in the caves. If you're not compelled by the fantasy ancient Chinese setting, or post-marriage content is extremely important to you, you might want to try other farming games. But I do feel like the devs want to implement the things they've been planning for. So, I wish the dev team all the best for their future updates.

What a delightful addition to the farming simulation genre. I love the Eastern twist that adds a lot of fun features and really got intrigued about the story as it unfolded during your time in this peaceful village. What I like: * The visuals in this game are just stunning and I love all of the trees and flowers in this game. I love that you can also have a bunch of different plants in vases and my house is just totally full of different types. * Lots of fun mounts and companions that you can find and tame. They even have a rarer variation which makes it fun to search for in the caves. * The mini-games for crafting and cooking recipes is something different than other farming sims. You also have the option to turn it off. I really liked being able to find crafting recipes when defeating animals and mining * The festivals are beautiful (although the Dragonboat mini-game is totally rigged) * The NPCs are complex and I really liked learning more about all of them and their relationship with each other as well as their relationship with me. * You can turn off the ability to drop items when you're defeated or turn on invincibility if you don't want to engage in the combat system. The combat system itself is pretty standard comparative to other farming sim games, but I do like that you can befriend the animals and sometimes get a crafting recipe when the animals are defeated. What I wish were different * The ability to toggle companion animals on and off since sometimes I don't want to see them or if I'm walking too fast then they will be teleporting everywhere and it's just painful on the eyes. Sometimes while I'm fishing then they will also be running into a fence or something which can be distracting * More marriage dialogue and a better schedule for your spouse since after marriage, it seems like they just hang around the farm and forget about their past life (at least from the person that I married) I think this game is for you if you already love traditional farming sim games or want to try one out. It does farming sim really well and there's a ton of things to do, but the game definitely gives you time to just learn everything at your own pace or engage in the systems that you want.
every time i see a new content update i get SO excited! everything about this game is so charming and beautiful, i wish i could live here myself ;-; i like that as your relationships with the villagers grow, you can see the impact it has on their relationships with each other - not just within their family/households but the broader community as well. it's very endearing to see them comment on how much of an impact you've made as the player! i also appreciate that the english translation does a very good job at communicating cultural references in a way thats easy for a non-chinese person to understand. it doesn't overly explain things to the point where it takes you out of the immersion. it just feels like a natural explanation of what's going on and why its important. i do wish it was easier to gain friendship with NPCs - some are very easy to gain favour with and some i still can't find what they like/love even after reading the fan-made guides. it could just be a skill issue on my part tbh :/ the game is still in development but there's still so much to do in terms of late-game content, and i can't wait to see what comes out in later updates!!
I’ve waited quite a while to write a review, because I wanted to give the developers time to address issues. I’ve had this game since it came out, and at no point was there a coherent way to play the game without feeling lost. The main storyline in the caves seems to have a completely random trigger and it isn’t explained at all. To all the people who suggest looking at guides and wiki pages; it simply doesn’t make sense that you need something like that to play a cozy farming game. If you are looking for something relaxing, don’t purchase this game. There is a lot of running around and not all of it will be fruitful. The developers themselves only respond to bug reports, on the discussions page and have no interest in listening or implementing any fixes related to guidance in the game. Time after time do they include these item updates that have plenty of cute things, but never address the issue of having to find out what to do or where to go by yourself. The only redeeming aspect it has is that the art style is precious. It’s a very pretty game with very pretty objects you can own. However, I don’t have any use for a pretty game to be lost in. It’s disappointing that these newer cozy/farming games have lost the spirit of what makes these games popular and why people play them. This is only one among the sea of games that have pretty attributes but miss the point of the genre completely. I only wish I could get a refund even today, because I’m quite sure the developers have zero intention of addressing any structural issues with the game. I can’t recommend this game, so be aware of the actualities of it before you get swept away by the art style.
场景没有四季变化有些遗憾,不过人物剧情刻画的非常好
Halcyon Days at Taoyuan gives you the familiar cozy farming sim mechanic, but transports you into a rural Chinese village instead. The gameplay loop was suprisingly addictive, with charming casts of characters, a unique barter system (instead of currency), as well as well a suprisingly deep narrative underneath it all. There are minor QoL features missing in this game, and I did saw some dumb review mentioning that the game doesn't have any guidance or a confusing plot. What? Ignore that moron as the game does want you to explore at the start and fast travel systems are locked behind the main story. Also, I love the current crafting mechanic and thank you for bringing back a very robust Wine Making and pottery system. I honestly can't wait till the studio expands crafting to include silkworms and medicine. Oh and the seasonal visual change, that's coming in 1.2 version but still will require you at least see one ending of the game. Because there's a narrative reason that the visual doesn't change throughout seasons in this village. Either way, for its price, this is a hidden gem you shouldn't sleep on.
