Für einen niedrigeren Preis wie jetzt im Sale wäre es für mich durchaus eine Empfehlung wert gewesen, trotz der doch recht einfach gehaltenen Grafik. Allerdings sind zwei von möglichen Enden mit Fehlern verbunden, einige der in der Vorschau auf der Shopseite gezeigten Bilder findet man im Spiel nicht wieder. Beim "Leah" Ende fehlen ein bis zwei Bilder und es gibt einen Ausnahmefehler, den man ignorieren kann. beim "Polyamorous Ending" dagegen ist fast komplett der Bildschirm schwarz und gut 4/5 der Bilder werden nicht gefunden. Dieser Fehler ist nun schon seit Mitte 2023 bekannt und der Dev hat bisher nichts unternommen, da Abhilfe zu schaffen. Es gibt zwar in den Diskussionsforen ein Workaround für eine manuelle Reparatur. Das bezieht sich allerdings nur auf die Mac und Linux Version und für Windows beötigt man Extra Software und wohl auch etwas Kenntnis darüber, was man überhaupt wie patchen soll. Das Spiel selbst ist vom Inhalt zwar fertig, aber der Developer korrigiert keine relevanten Fehler im Programm und wird es wohl auch nicht mehr tun. Es hat sich schlie0kich seit über anderthalb Jahren nichts getan. Daher rate ich vom Kauf des Spiels ab. Tut mir leid!

This game may be cheap, but you don't get your money's worth. Its short, very very short. I completed all routes of this game in under 30 minutes. I ran into multiple bugs while playing where scenes wouldn't show prompting me to uninstall and reinstall. Some times this worked, some times it didn't. The plot was meh at best and feels like you're playing the end of a story rather than the entire story.. All in all, this game is less than mid and I'd recommend you play something better.

After choosing your name, navigate your relationship with two separate women, and deal with the Mafia goons hunting you. Decent.

I just couldn’t get into the story of this game. It’s boring and outright nonsensical at times. The women aren’t particularly attractive or memorable either. Worst of all, the polyamory route is riddled with broken images. Disappointing all around.

Despite the few and mixed reviews (and noting the bugs mentioned in the forum), I decided to give Hacker's Restart a chance and picked it up during the recent Steam Visual Novel Festival sale. While it was short, as other reviewers have noted, I enjoyed the story while it lasted. I wasn't expecting too much for the price and wasn't disappointed. However, for potential players, the aforementioned bugs in the game may be a deal-breaker for some. Luckily, some of the bugs can be fixed by players themselves. Another player has posted patches (for two of the bugs) for the game in the forum. (Though applying the patches may be above some player's technical abilities.) It is unfortunate that the developer has not updated the game and fixed the bugs or responded in the forum (as of the date of this review). (For any potential players not comfortable with trying to fix the game themselves, I would not recommend buying it. One of the bugs affects viewing the scenes in the polyamorous route ending, which is depicted in some of the game's store page screenshots.) The developer has written "There are planned quality of life and visual quality updates in the near future that are completely free and optional." in the game description, so I do hope that happens. It seems like this game was a learning experience for the dev, so I hope he will fix the bugs, and create even better games in the future.
