games fairly fun but the bullet physics are wack as hell and the hitboxes are funky so idk
I love this game but there's just not enough content. even a bad player can 100% this game in under 2 hours. a good player could have maybe 40 minutes before getting bored. concept and execution are are great, really, I mean that. I love the art style, music, gameplay, everything really. How i feel about this game is basically this: Imagine Binding of Isaac but it's only the first floor and theres a total of 10 items. Pretty disappointing, huh?
Downwell + heavy bullets with flash game DNA in it. I probably haven't discovered all its secrets, but this was a nice little game now that i finally got around to playing it. (I did beat it in an hour, but mostly because I've got fast game brainrot) Is good, get it if you like supporting small inde devs and interesting games
Gutwhale is crunchy, juicy, and dense. The intense action is complemented by a pounding soundtrack and bizarre gameplay. Jam-packed with content, it’s the epitome of a short but sweet experience.
Gutwhale is frustrating. One hit deaths are punishing, and it takes a good amount of effort to be patient enough to wait out patterns. The combo system and how responsive the controls are exacerbate said frustration. You just want to push out so quick to get your score higher so you can buy the better hat okay here comes the guy and wow I'm dead. Restart. This would usually work against a game, but Gutwhale isn't focused on creating an overarching experience of item combinations and lore exploration. You're in a whale's gut, you want to get out, you beat some levels, and you're shown how to get out. It's addictive like an old flash game and how even though it might have been the worst garbage on the planet, you wanted to see that end screen so you could go screech at your 12 year old friends about it. Short, sweet, no aftertaste. I wish there were ratings other than yes or no, because a game like this exists in the middle. I don't recommend it if you want something genuinely challenging, or if you're just not mechanically able to play fast paced games like this. If you want an engaging hour or so of flash game chaos, it's totally worth it.
Surreal little treat that doesn't overstay its welcome, as it can be beaten in less than a couple hours. If you think that's not worth the five dollars, wait for a sale and perhaps check out the dev's newer titles.
