What we have here with "Guess Colors" is a blatant clone of Mastermind (Copyright Hasbro/Goliath Games/Invicta Plastics, 1971). The "developer" looked at an existing, successful game and decided that stealing someone else's entire game concept was an acceptable substitute for having an original idea. Hasbro/Goliath Games/Invicta Plastics holds the copyright from 1971 and has not yet taken legal action, but copyright holders have every right to do so. Beyond the copyright issue, the unwritten rule of ripping off someone else's game is that you should at least try to improve on it. Guess Colors doesn't. DIG Games have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. One example of DIG Games doing this is Candy Mandy, which is really the "Match 3 Jelly Garden Kit" asset, written by the actual developers, Candy Smith. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. For gameplay purposes, because the user interface for this game is mostly just 2D static text/images... it might as well be a web page. It's functionally no different from a browser game. And we all know, Steam isn't here to compete with Chrome and Firefox. If the game can be done in a web browser, it's just not rich or compelling enough to appeal to serious gamers on PC. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features extremely lazy, minimalist "art", of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. These flaws make this game fall far short of the professional standards we expect from a modern PC game. Now onto pricing and value. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam? Guess Colors is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. For comparison, the $1 asking price for this game could get you games like "This War of Mine", "Mad Max" or "Payday 2". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this. You can always judge a game by how popular it is with the general public. Steam has over 130 million unique gamers, and over 40 million unique logons every day from dedicated PC gamers. But this only ever had a peak player count of a dozen or so people... that's very poor public reception. Gamers rejected this, most likely due to the reasons I supply in this review.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Хорошая игра на логику. Из минусов: единственная ачивка очень странная - надо угадать правильную комбинацию цветов с первого хода, вероятность чего как бы 1 из 1296.
Why am I wasting my life with this? ;)
