Really, really good. If you prefer guns over sabers, or just want a different musical VR game it's a must.
This game is loads of fun! very challenging at 1st. I tried pistol whip and also synth riders, didn't like either of them and returned them both. So if you do like both of those games i really don't see how you couldn't like this one 10x more! but everyone has different tastes. after the 1st time i played all i wanted to do was play again. not long after the 1st round i was back in there. i put almost 4 hours in the 1st 2 times i played! its been a while since i found a game i was craving to master right off the bat. Edit:this game is so good i had to come back and say it again. beat saber and groove gunner are my top 2 rhythm VR games. I can see this getting as popular as beat saber tbh. IF ANYONE READS THIS THAT DOESN'T HAVE THE GAME JUST BUY IT ALREADY.
Ok, so I'm not the best rhythm game player, more so that i could say I'm bad at these kind of games. Yet i managed to get better and better at a fair amount of the OST. There are moments of discouragement. Had a fair bit of "Rage Quit" kind of moments for sure. But once i got past the more Challenging parts/areas of the songs and started repeating them over and over i started to get a feel for all the songs. There is a great feeling of accomplishment when you finally beat some of your "Crappy" scores and start owning and feeling the beat of the songs If your looking for a VR challenge and a great workout. This game is for you! The devs are working hard with the community, constantly listening to the feedback channels in the discord to make this game a keeper in your steam library and one of the GOTO VR game when ya want to try something fun and to get the heart pumping. This game could even be part of your daily workout routine if you add VR to your daily activity. Out of all the VR games i have played over the years this is one i come back to over and over again. Devs keep adding and changing things that improve the gameplay lots. Things like visual effects and chart adjustments to try and keep things moving in the right direction for Groove Gunner. The Song editor is also a huge thing. Being able to add and create charts to your own music library is a huge selling point i would think. Also when trying to setup a chart for your first time you might get a better understanding for how bullets and targets are setup and could potentially help your future gameplay. All in all Groove Gunner is a great VR game and anyone who wants to try something fun and challenging should defiantly grab a copy and give er a go. If you think they got something wrong or are missing something then jump on in the community discord and make your voice heard!
One of the coolest rhythm games out there. I grew up playing Rock Band and this is a whole new feeling - the lower difficulties are fun and pumpy, and the harder difficulties are still kicking my butt. The timing is sharp and feels good, although I really need to get better at blocking shots. I really appreciate the colorblind options, that's a huge plus for me right out of the gate. The song editor is packed with options too, things like setting up pyrotechnics and playing videos on the big screen during the song. I always show this game to friends when they come over and want to try out VR. Really well done, A+
Very few and not exactly the most engaging music tracks, a smittering of community tracks mostly aimed at high level and what appears to be similar dysfunctional issues to Audica (not other frantic aim-shoot games I have tried, just this one) where aim rotation will stutter, especially during shield and gun switch, ruining the shot. In general it can be hard to see what you have to hit due to the obfuscation of notes with arm movement or barrage of visible effects. Auto-map population from music library would go a long way.
Challenging, but fun. Switching between blocking strings of bullets and shooting targets looks and feels more arcadey than other VR rhythm games but it works. Less of a full body workout than Beat Saber, but (imo) a way higher skill ceiling due to difficulty scaling making accuracy extremely important. No risk of motion sickness like Pistol Whip. Just remember to shift your weight once in awhile. The OST/Featured tracks have grown on me over time. Each of them does something different. Overall, more metal/rock tracks than any other genre in the current OST. Custom tracks-made using the included song/lightshow editor with direct export/upload-are available to download right in game. Some are WIP(but playable), others "Complete" and have their own leaderboards like the Featured tracks. Lots of customisation, including a spectating HUD for live-streaming, and an automated "Groove Cam" for a shifting third person view of the the stage/player. Works well with LIV out of the box. No custom gun or shield models. Devs are very responsive and open to feedback and suggestions. I look forward to future updates.
I love this game its fast, hard and enjoyable and who doesn't love things like that. Hitting balls and shooting your loaded gun at the oncoming hexagons with some really great tunes. loving the leaderboard so it give me a challenge on who to beat. One of the better Rhythm games to play in VR
If you are looking for an extreme rhythm game challenge, this one is really well done! The scoring system scale down on a constant quite nicely from perfect timing or accurate shots, so there is a whole ton of room for self-improvement. The developers made tons of accessible options for better performance, or changing up the colors, effects, positioning of your hand and shields, brightness for specific assets, and are also very responsive to the community and bugfixes! This game does take alot of patience to get used to, and is not very casual friendly passed 3+ diffficulty (Sharpshooter), but heavily, heavily rewarding! Been playing it for months now, and its quite the mental satisfaction!
Fantastic rhythm game with a really novel concept. I wasn't sure how satisfying firing at targets to the beat of the music was going to be, but it turns out it's really addictive and fun. The bigger surprise, though, is how fun blocking the bullets with the shields is and how it does a great job of mixing up the gameplay. The sound of the bullets disintegrating against the shields is the most satisfying sound since striking those beetles in the Link's Awakening Switch remake. This is definitely a must-have for anyone with a VR headset and a fondness for rhythm games. Also, cheers on the native Linux release! It works flawlessly on Arch with my potato of a graphics card. Super impressive!
