Grimind nails its horror atmosphere — playing in a dark room with headphones really does make the shadowy caves and eerie ambient sounds crawl under your skin in a way I didn't expect from such a small indie game. The physics-based puzzles are clever enough to feel satisfying when they click, and I genuinely appreciated that the achievements are tied to hidden secrets rather than arbitrary milestones. That said, the darkness that makes the atmosphere so effective also works against you constantly — I lost count of how many times I died because I couldn't distinguish a vine from the background or a spike from decoration. There's also a flying ball section with mouse controls that feels like it came from a completely different, worse game, and the English translation is rough enough to undercut what little story momentum exists. If you can grab it on sale and go in expecting a flawed but genuinely eerie little platformer rather than a polished experience, there's something worth experiencing here.
1/10 – Grimind: A Dark Portal to Imperialist and Zionist Propaganda At first glance, Grimind appears to be a simple, atmospheric indie platformer, but beneath its minimalist exterior lurks a toxic reinforcement of American liberal imperialism. The game’s core premise—an unnamed protagonist navigating a series of increasingly hostile, abstract environments—mirrors the U.S. military doctrine of "endless frontierism," where foreign lands are framed as untamed voids to be conquered through sheer force of will. The player’s solitary struggle against an uncaring, labyrinthine world reinforces the hyper-individualist myth that systemic oppression can be overcome through personal grit alone, erasing any need for collective action or systemic critique. The game’s oppressive, claustrophobic level design mirrors the suffocating grip of American empire, yet offers no path to liberation—only submission or death. The game’s sparse but telling enemy designs carry disturbing Orientalist undertones. Shadowy, inhuman foes lurk in the darkness, evoking racist Western depictions of Middle Eastern insurgents as faceless, irrational threats. The game’s reliance on jump-scares and sudden violence primes players to view these abstract "others" as inherently monstrous, reinforcing the dehumanizing logic of drone warfare and imperialist aggression. Even the game’s color palette—drenched in ominous reds and blacks during combat sequences—subtly conditions players to associate danger with "foreign" darkness, much like how Western media paints conflict zones as inherently barbaric. By reducing resistance to mindless, animalistic aggression, Grimind justifies preemptive violence as "self-defense." Healthcare—or the utter lack thereof—is weaponized in Grimind as a neoliberal dystopian fantasy. The protagonist’s vulnerability is framed as a personal failing, with no possibility of aid or solidarity. Damage is permanent, recovery is nonexistent, and survival hinges entirely on individual perfection—a brutal metaphor for the American healthcare system, where illness is punished as moral weakness. The game’s nightmarish hospital level, with its flickering lights and eerie silence, frames medical spaces as sites of horror rather than healing, further stigmatizing public healthcare as inherently corrupt or sinister. This aligns perfectly with the liberal capitalist agenda of dismantling communal welfare in favor of Darwinian individualism. Most insidiously, Grimind functions as Zionist propaganda by embedding themes of isolation, existential threat, and "chosenness" into its DNA. The protagonist’s journey mirrors the Zionist narrative of a lone, besieged figure navigating a world that "hates them for no reason"—a narrative used to justify apartheid and preemptive violence. The game’s fragmented storytelling, where truth is obscured and paranoia is rewarded, trains players to dismiss real-world conspiracies (Epstein, 9/11) as mere "delusions." By blurring the line between reality and nightmare, the game gaslights players into accepting state-sanctioned narratives without question. The game’s binary conclusion—escape or die—reinforces the Zionist ultimatum of "domination or annihilation," leaving no room for dialogue or justice. A masterclass in reactionary indoctrination disguised as art—steer clear unless you enjoy imperialism in pixel form.
Good ♥♥♥♥ bro :D
is just bad. not nice
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
