About

Grim Trials is a heavy metal action roguelite where you craft and customize your own weapons and equipment to embrace Death your own way.
Play as Avelin, a young woman who has met an untimely end, and found herself recruited as one of Death’s many Reapers. Tasked to hunt down impure souls, face her demons, and fight her way through an underworld of her own making, Avelin must endure these trials to become a full-fledged Reaper and see her still-living love once again.

Endless hex-grid arenas filled with monsters, traps, sinful souls, and 7 sacrilegious bosses await. Slay them all with a variety of customizable scythes, crossbows, and powerful Blessings from the Gods of Death around the world. Master the scythe and crossbow to maximize damage to your foes with a unique combat system that rewards clever use of your dual-wielded weapons.

The spoils of battle are the tools of your trade. Gather materials from the battlefield and work with your mentors in the arcane arts to craft new and ever more powerful weapons, armor, and consumables.

Every reaper carves their own path! Mix and match your crafted equipment with skills gained from investing in an expansive skill tree at the start of every run, then choose carefully from the randomized Blessings you obtain mid-run to create powerful builds!

Explore The Academy, built for the training and arming of Death’s various Reapers. Seek enlightenment from mentors, take on quests to build your relationships, and unlock sage advice, knowledge, and powerful support from your peers. Learn the stories of the dead by interacting with the Academy’s denizens.

Coming of age in the afterlife was certainly not the plan, but dying means little to the already-dead, and love unyielding wields power no god can rival. Every time Avelin falls in battle, the experience and materials you’ve earned stay with her. Live, fight, die, then live again, over and over until the promise is kept.

Obviously takes inspiration from Hades, but it has its own charm. Particularly fond of the character design (the animals!) and the writing so far.
This game was not what I expected in an era where rougelites are far too common. This game stands out for its story that connects existential issues. NPCs further enhance the story; combat is simple and engaging due to the quest that requires you to change builds but also rewards you for the attempt. Rouge lite can be complex at times, but this game makes it really simple and easy to digest. Great game.
First, I’d like to congratulate "Glory Jam" on the official release of the game *Grim Trials*!!! The gameplay is incredibly fast-paced, blending melee and ranged combat. There are so many customization options available that you’ll never get bored experimenting with different builds and strategies. And let's not forget the combat, it’s accompanied by heavy metal music that really gets your adrenaline pumping! The story is quite unique, featuring plenty of NPC interactions that provide extra lore to flesh out the narrative. I managed to beat the game, even though I didn't get 100% completion. It was a really fun experience, thanks for creating such a great game! If you're interested in seeing my gameplay, feel free to check out the Rylee Arcadia channel on YouTube. Thanks! Overall Rating 10/10
I had so much fun playing Grim Trials! I’m honestly not very good at this kind of game, so learning the mechanics and figuring out how everything works took me quite a bit of time. But somehow, I managed to beat Sinful Soul 1 after only 2 hours of playing. That felt like a huge achievement for me!!! 😂 The game is really fun, challenging, and satisfying once things start to click. I’m definitely going to keep playing until I can kill all the bosses. One important tip for anyone planning to play: PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT. They matter. A LOT. I learned that the hard way. Wish me luck making it all the way to the end! P.S.: you do finish the game, please try to find Raifit Gaming in the credits for me hahahah 😆
Nota: 8.5/10
As someone who really enjoys Hades, Grim Trials immediately clicked with me, but I also like that it brings a very different vibe to the action roguelite formula. The crafting system might be a bit hit or miss depending on what kind of player you are. I can imagine some players wanting to jump straight into the action without spending too much time crafting and customizing their equipment. But as someone who enjoys crafting games, I actually found the balance between combat and crafting really satisfying. It gives me another reason to experiment between runs instead of just focusing on combat. One thing that felt a little overwhelming for me at the beginning was the build options. I usually prefer a lighter and faster playstyle, while some of the early options felt quite heavy. But once you start unlocking more builds and equipment, there is more freedom to adjust your playstyle and find something that feels faster and more comfortable. And finally, the music. The heavy metal identity is VERY strong here, hahaha. It fits the whole atmosphere of the game really well and gives Grim Trials a personality of its own. Definitely one to keep an eye on, especially if you enjoy roguelites but also like crafting and experimenting with different builds.
Art is beautiful and the music is very good. Definitely the strongest part of the game. Gameplay loop is pretty solid. You go to combat, collect resource, most likely die, and then go back to the academy to craft potions and gears for your next run. Its probably good idea to do grocery runs to stack up resources and potions until you're really ready to fight the boss. The first part of the game is a bit too slow in my opinion. They don't give you a lot of options in terms of equipment, just 1 heavy axe to replace your scythe and 1 replacement gears for each slot. With how insanely messy the first boss can get, you're gonna be stuck grinding for skill upgrades before you can get new toys. If you're interested in a stylish hack and slash roguelite, give this one a try!
Super Fun! It makes me lose track of time. No complex mechanics. You can just sit back and relax while dodging all the annoying projectiles. I really love the art style too
