Another banger
i love grim dawn over 450h in game, im only recommending the game based on past faith on bug fixes and the overall "tweaking of the difficulty" (there are some one shot bosses, but a mix of evade and rift jumps can get you far) they have changed the controller configs so gamepad does have issues (cant switch to second menu, and loot is more difficult without being able to scroll with the d-pad) but the new areas are large and very nice looking the only thing i question is putting the dlc entrance in act 4 meaning you have to play through 3/4 of the game before stepping into new dlc still worth $20
This is a proper expansion pack of the olden days, not just mere dlc. Makes the game feel new, and gives you much more new permutations of characters to try out. (hehe i have this many hours and not even a single lvl 100 character :DDD, what can i say, i really love to try different things out. While chilling and listening on music all the while ;D). The new areas are much more expansive, less linear. I'm only going on veteran yet, so i can't talk about one shot mechanics, i have had a couple of times where i have been surprised by enemy damage, but zero deaths so far. What i don't like is the powercreep in early game boss hp, for some chars they were already a boring slog, where you know you are going to win anyways but have to slog on anyway. It seems to lag less now than before, it still does if you alt tab for too long, but it is nowhere as pervasive as it was before. Animations seem to bee improved even in the base game. Good job getting this out of this ancient engine. Maybe i will try to get some lvl 100 characters and edit this later. (I have many over 90 or 90-ish. What can i say, i don't even necessarily get bored with the character, just too excited to try something new ;D.) Game of the millenium.
its funny being da werewolf hehe
Just pure love
The campaign seems short but somehow I've doubled my playtime in just a week. Very fun game to come back to.
This game is like the hot dog deal at Costco, you can't go wrong. Once you've had one, you'll want more. Maybe the dogs arn't your thing, thats ok. Costco has amazing selection of cheese. Just like this game, there's loads of content and replayability. Crate is solid, if they put a turkey melt sandwich in a game, you can play that game for 10 years and flavour country will still be there. I bring up the turkey melt, only because I can't seem to find a costco that makes them anymore. By far the best sandwich they ever had.
A worthy conclusion to one of the greatest ARPGs out there. It's massive, it's beautiful, it's more Grim Dawn. You know it's good when most of the new items light the spark in you for trying a new build. As of the time of this review there're a few rough edges around balancing, which I'm sure Crate will sort out as they've proven to be capable of patch after patch after parch, for over a decade. Nothing major though, considering I've been able to complete the expansion on Ascendant mode (including killing the Dread) with a build that I guess wouldn't even crack the top 20 and with hardly 2 ascended items yet.
Crate has blessed us with even more greatness. Absolutely insane amount of content here for an already large game. Just get it - you won't be disappointed.
I think it is hard to be objective about GD as I like it so much so I won't try it. Fangs of Asterkarn holds the fastest insta-buy record on Steam for me I guess. It is amazing I think. Besides stunning locations and some rather tricky missions and clues (that I want from a DLC, be challenging) it includes a complete interface overhaul. For an oldtimer like me it is a little messy at first but it completely makes sense as you dig deeper. I liked the soundtrack. Compared to to the famous Diablo II DLC LoD it makes a better job. LoD soundtrack instead of the bold guitar-based atmospheric music was like some generic dark orchestral stuff. Boring and off. Opposing that the Fangs of Asterkarn score is not like that, it fits nicely the overall GD theme. Has some great flashback pieces when things go tense. On stability side I had about a dosen of crashes during a single "do everything, talk to everyone, go everywhere" playthrough (20+ hours) . On balancing side I think it also could be better as my stpry character is either too OP or weak but I must also add that despite I played it a lot, I'm not exactly a Grim Dawn specialist. I usually play hardcore characters and enjoy starting from zero with the journeys get longer as time goes and absolutely love that if it ends - it really ends. I have only a single regular character to discover the full game content and a couple of mules to store loot. About all of the bugs and unbalancing I'm pretty forgiving here as I could see during the previous DLCs that none of them were perfect around the release date and Crate Entertainment fixed everything rather quickly. So it's a great DLC I think, absolutely recommended for GD fans. GD in general is also recommended for A-RPG fans who are too annoyed by the always-online obligation of Diablo games. The massive GD works perfectly offline with no BS. Recommended for long journeys with a Steam Deck.
