For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. You play as a historian and treasure hunter. Since childhood, you've been fascinated by tales of lost paintings, gold taken during the war, and stolen jewels. However, so far, the only things you've managed to find are a few 19th-century coins and other items worth only a few pennies at the local antique shop.
For some time now, you've been researching the history of an aristocratic family from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, which lost a significant portion of its wealth due to a theft. The family never recovered financially after that loss. Friends and relatives were suspected, and bad luck was blamed. An innocent person was even wrongfully condemned. However, what truly captured your attention were the tragic events that unfolded in the nearby workers' village, nestled at the foot of the aristocratic estates, in the years following the theft—disappearances and other unsettling occurrences. Today, the village is nearly abandoned.
You've been wandering the area for the last few days, searching house after house. The few remaining locals give you suspicious looks, but no one bothers you. Who cares about crumbling, ownerless ruins and some lunatic with a backpack and a flashlight? Today is just another day and another house. Maybe this time, your dream will come true, and you'll find something worth more than an old shoe. And if not, at least you'll have another story to tell. After all, having a passion is what matters most.

Short and sweet, the house reminds me of my grandma's house, if you were born in Eastern Europe this game will be very familiar to you

Greed Stays Home is a psychological horror experience that focuses on tension, atmosphere, and slow-building dread rather than action or traditional survival mechanics. Set inside an abandoned rural village filled with dark secrets and lingering supernatural presence, the game places players into the role of a historian and treasure seeker investigating the disappearance of an aristocratic family and the rumors surrounding their hidden fortune. What begins as a simple search for lost valuables gradually transforms into a disturbing descent into paranoia, supernatural horror, and the consequences of greed. From the moment players enter the isolated village, the game establishes an oppressive atmosphere that becomes its greatest strength. The empty streets, collapsing buildings, muddy roads, and constant darkness create the feeling of stepping into a place that has been abandoned for decades yet somehow still feels alive. Every environment carries a sense of decay and unease, as though the village itself is resisting the player’s presence. The game understands how important environmental storytelling is within psychological horror, and it uses every location to reinforce the feeling that something terrible happened long before the player arrived. Visually, Greed Stays Home embraces a gritty and grounded style that fits its themes perfectly. The developers avoid overly polished or cinematic presentation in favor of environments that feel cold, dirty, and forgotten. Dim lighting, heavy shadows, and weathered interiors create a realistic sense of isolation, while certain visual filters give portions of the game the appearance of old recordings or distorted memories. The village feels trapped in time, and this visual direction helps strengthen the unsettling atmosphere throughout the experience. The narrative revolves around the mystery of a wealthy family whose fortune disappeared alongside a string of mysterious deaths and disappearances. As players search for clues and hidden valuables, they gradually uncover fragments of the village’s dark history. Rumors of greed, betrayal, and supernatural punishment slowly merge together into a larger mystery that becomes increasingly disturbing as the story progresses. Rather than presenting the horror as random paranormal chaos, the game ties its supernatural elements directly to human corruption and obsession, which gives the narrative more emotional weight. One of the most effective aspects of Greed Stays Home is its pacing. The game does not rush players through nonstop scares or constant encounters. Instead, it builds fear gradually through silence, anticipation, and environmental tension. Players spend much of the experience simply exploring abandoned structures and listening to unsettling sounds while waiting for something terrible to happen. This slower structure works extremely well because it allows anxiety to build naturally over time. Even moments where nothing occurs still feel tense because the atmosphere constantly suggests danger is nearby. The sound design deserves significant praise because it carries much of the horror experience. Creaking floors, distant whispers, footsteps in empty hallways, and environmental ambience combine to create a constant sense of unease. Silence is often just as frightening as louder moments because the game uses quiet sections to make players hyper-aware of every small sound. The audio design constantly reinforces vulnerability and isolation, making exploration feel stressful even during relatively calm sequences. The jump scares themselves are used carefully and with restraint. Instead of overwhelming players with constant loud interruptions, the game spaces out its horror moments and builds tension beforehand. Some scares rely on sudden visual appearances, while others work through psychological discomfort and environmental manipulation. This balance prevents the horror from becoming repetitive and helps maintain unpredictability throughout the short runtime. Gameplay remains intentionally simple and focused. Greed Stays Home is primarily an exploration-driven horror game built around walking through environments, uncovering clues, and progressing through scripted story events. There are no combat mechanics or complicated survival systems distracting from the atmosphere. This simplicity allows the game to remain fully focused on immersion and psychological tension, which suits the experience well. The relatively short length also benefits the game overall. Instead of stretching its ideas too thin, the experience delivers a concentrated horror story that maintains momentum from beginning to end. The pacing rarely drags, and the shorter runtime prevents the atmosphere from losing impact through repetition. Multiple endings and collectible elements add some replay value for players interested in exploring every outcome. However, the game is not without weaknesses. The narrative, while intriguing, occasionally lacks deeper character development and emotional complexity. Players uncover interesting lore surrounding the village and the aristocratic family, but the protagonist himself remains somewhat underdeveloped. This can make certain emotional moments feel less impactful than they could have been with stronger character writing. Some horror elements also rely on familiar genre conventions. Experienced horror fans may predict certain scares and haunted-house sequences before they happen. While the atmosphere remains effective throughout, the game occasionally falls back on recognizable psychological horror tropes that reduce the sense of originality in certain scenes. Technical limitations are noticeable as well. Animations can feel stiff, interactions are sometimes simplistic, and the game’s linear structure leaves limited room for meaningful exploration outside the main progression path. Players expecting complex puzzles or deeper gameplay systems may find the overall experience mechanically shallow. Greed Stays Home depends almost entirely on atmosphere and storytelling to maintain engagement. Despite these flaws, the game succeeds remarkably well at creating a tense and immersive horror experience. Its oppressive environments, strong sound design, and carefully paced psychological tension make the village feel genuinely unsettling from beginning to end. The combination of historical mystery, supernatural fear, and emotional themes surrounding greed gives the story a distinct identity that helps it stand out among many smaller indie horror titles. For players who enjoy atmospheric horror games focused on exploration, tension, and narrative immersion, Greed Stays Home offers a memorable journey through a haunting village filled with secrets and lingering evil. While its short runtime and simple mechanics prevent it from becoming a major genre-defining title, the game’s powerful atmosphere and effective pacing make it a highly worthwhile horror experience.
It was a great game. Nothing groundbreaking. I just had a good time. The game is not long and is priced just right for its length. I liked the story concept and how the lore presented itself throughout the night. The textures looked good. The game is a bit dark, and changing the gamma does very little. It's dark, and you just have to deal with it. Lots of jump scares, some obvious and some not. Overall, I didn't care. I was having too much fun with it. It isn't bringing anything new to the genre, and that's okay. I had fun. I enjoyed the gameplay, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. 7/10
