Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 3 → 1/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Poland over the last 30 days: the 20 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10.5 places towards #1, and the 2,491 moves with no price cut behind them went 1 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Desperately wanted to like this - DLC and all. The move UX is so janky, it's unplayable.

The game isn't perfect, and yes it's abandoned at this point, but it is so unique and bold that I keep coming back. The graphics are outdated and sometimes it runs like hard tack, but what it lacks in beauty, it makes up for in depth and detail. The ability to create avatars of yourself and your friends creates a story building within your campaigns that you rarely get in games like this. For anyone interested in the ACW, this is a must have. If you love grand strategy, there is something here for you too but be warned, the learning curve is real.
love it
TLDR: I highly recommend this game, but would suggest waiting for a sale. Regardless of it's flaws, this game is unparalleled when it comes to American Civil War grand strategy. At the time of this review I only have ~30 hours and I have barely scratched the surface. There was so much love that went into this game but I feel I should list the more frustrating elements first. Cons: -The UI is useful, but janky. -The economy is a bit opaque and unresponsive (though this could certainly be a skill issue on my part). -The best part of the game (Whiskey and Lemons DLC) is locked behind a paywall. -Unit placement and movement is very unintuitive at times, especially on the battlefield. -Friendly AI will tend to just blob up in battle, leading to a constant cycle of inability to hold ground or sustain an offensive (only a real issue in Whiskey and Lemons) -The morale system, even on easier difficulties, is very punishing. -Sometimes battles will commence where the enemy is attacking you on the strategic map, but for some reason you are forced into a costly assault to not rout your army on the strategic level. -Enemy AI is either braindead lobotomy patients who sit on one point and never move, or are sweaty tryhards who will bumrush you and never give a moment to breathe with no in between. -The soundtrack, while great, is extremely repetitive after the ten hour mark. -AI generals (when you play with Whiskey and Lemons) will frequently give you insane orders to move or assault while they do absolutely nothing. -Very wooden voice acting -Autoresolve literally does not work (I don't like to autoresolve anyway, but some people do) -Artillery often acts braindead and will move unlimbered for hundreds of yards under heavy fire. Pros: -Extremely in depth grand strategy of the Civil War. -Fun, period appropriate soundtrack (even if it is repetitive) -Excellent sound design. I absolutely adore the cacophony of battle. (One caveat: I wish there were screams of the wounded to really sell how hellish these battlefields are) -Intricate yet elegant battlefield design. -Near infinite ability to mix and match unit types, size, equipment, and organization. -Unit experience is a very nice system. You can really feel the slow progression of recruits to veterans over the course of a campaign. (especially noticeable and appreciated in Whiskey and Lemons) -Lots of care went into portraying some often forgotten logistical aspects of war: WIA and POW. These are extremely important to your strategic success. -Making slavery the cornerstone of the CSA. It is nice to see just how vital slavery was to the CSA's very existence, from the economy, to military, to politics and beyond. Overall I think this game is well worth it for someone trying to scratch that Civil War itch. I couldn't suggest buying it at normal price though, wait for a sale. 6.5/10
great game

Buggy but fun
Without a shadow of a doubt, this is a fantastic grand strategy game that blends very well the kind of events and management you would expect to find in a paradox game, while also having access to tactical battles akin to that of Total War, but with tens of thousands of men on the field at once. The immersion is also fantastic, as you can choose to use an in-game font that is more era-accurate, and you also receive written letters in the longhand cursive font of the time from your commanding officers. Overall a fantastic experience, and if you have any interest at all in the Civil War, it is definitely worth a buy.
