Игра 'Grand Escape' оказалась приятным сюрпризом. Незамысловатая, но увлекательная головоломка с элементами платформера. Визуальный стиль выполнен в минималистичном, но при этом запоминающемся ключе. Главный герой - забавный квадрат, стремящийся к свободе, что уже вызывает симпатию. Геймплей прост в освоении, но постепенно усложняется, предлагая интересные задачи для решения. Механики интуитивно понятны, а взаимодействие с окружением доставляет удовольствие. Особо стоит отметить креативный дизайн уровней, каждый из которых предлагает что-то новое и заставляет поломать голову. Понравилась спокойная, атмосферная музыка, которая создаёт расслабляющую атмосферу во время игры. Отсутствие спешки позволяет насладиться процессом и обдумывать каждый шаг. Несмотря на простоту, игра вызывает зависимость и желание пройти все уровни. Были небольшие недочеты в управлении, иногда возникали неточности при прыжках, но это не критично и быстро забывается. В целом, 'Grand Escape' - отличная игра для тех, кто ищет расслабляющую и увлекательную головоломку на несколько вечеров. Рекомендую!

"Grand Escape" is a garbage/Flash tier 2D top down avoidance action game where, quite simply, you run around collecting gems while pixelcrap policeman heads chase you around. It's truly remarkable someone looked at this and thought "Oh this is good enough to publish on Steam alongside real, professionally made video games, so now I will be able to tell my imaginary girlfriend I am a real game developer thanks to Steam Direct." What do you do in the game? Run around, avoid the pixelcrap heads chasing you while you collect pixelcrap gems. I think the entire game was made with MS-Paint. While that $100 spend on Steam Direct probably made the developers feel good about themselves, we have to ask why this kind of thing is good for gamers. It isn't. The amateur pixelcrap visual presentation here at best could have been an attempt to use "retro" as a crutch, a weak excuse to avoid admitting the developer wasn't capable of doing the job of a game developer this decade and creating cutting edge, high quality 3D visuals. While a lack of skill or funding is the explanation for this failure, it's no excuse. The end result of this incompetence is a game that looks dramatically inferior to professionally developed games. Terraria and Undertale succeeded [i]despite[/i] looking crap, not [i]because[/i] they look crap. Let's talk about pricing and the actual value this has for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. A peak of [b]2 concurrent players[/b] (according to SteamDB) for a "free" game is a disastrous public reception. Out of 130 million potential players here on Steam, almost nobody was interested. Even though this is "free". That level of rejection speaks a lot for the quality of the game. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? What's the verdict? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. I didn't pay money, but I still feel ripped off. At the end of the day, my reviews are intended to help gamers find quality and avoid the dregs (with over 140,000 games on Steam... not all of them are masterpieces). If you think my review is wrong, definitely add this to your library, download it and play it... it's surely exactly the kind of game you'll love (but I doubt it will work out that way).
