Governor of the West

Alright Time for an updated review: This game is unexpectedly addicting, and as simple as it may be, it can and will prove a challenge when you least expect it, the number of times, I've lost track of my health only to realise when its dangerously low is.... well anyway. Governor of the west is a simple yet addicting game, you start of with a base character, with no discerning skills and soon unlock more and more as you win (from what I can see there are 13 characters). You start of as a band of one, and slowly expand, your play style can be one of two options: The good fame guy who's friends with all, or the "Hey lets burn down a church and fill the west with dread" type of guy, each style has their own unique ways of winning the game. Per run you may unlock map modifiers, which either give you a helping hand... or throws you into a barren wasteland, forgotten, alone, and as you look around, on your last breath, praying you'll find someone, you will... then its a race against time, as you constantly battle your low health whilst gaining resources, fame money and maybe possibly, dread! Par for some UI overlaps (which is resolved by scaling the UI down in settings) and the loading of Tips, the game is, from what I can see, bug free. The sound design is simple and a good fit for the game. As for the game play, the quests are easy to find, give the game a challenge stops it from being repetitive and work really well. If your looking to buy a game that's easy to learn, but can also offer a small challenge then this game is for you.

I can't help but feel scammed by this game. There's maybe 5 minutes worth of content. Character models and other assets are found on the asset store.. 2/10

Even with the UI scaled down, the player cards cover pop-up information on the screen. Additionally, tutorial pop-ups appear every time you continue a saved game, even when this feature is disabled in the settings. These persistent problems severely hinder the gameplay experience and detract from any potential enjoyment. Governor of the West is a board-game without any opponents. So, why is this turn-based? Also, generating a different map doesn't make sense when you can move anywhere on the board at any time. Another significant drawback is the lack of variety in content. Despite the game's promise of an immersive journey through the Old West, each game feels remarkably similar to the last, with the only difference being the landscape's generation. This repetition quickly becomes stale and monotonous, as there's little incentive for players to engage in subsequent playthroughs. Compounding these issues are numerous technical problems, persistent bugs and glitches give the impression that Governor of the West is still in Early Access, rather than a fully released title. In conclusion, Governor of the West fails to deliver an enjoyable strategy experience due to its numerous technical issues, poor user interface, and lack of content variety. While the game's concept holds promise, it is ultimately marred by its numerous shortcomings. Potential players are advised to look elsewhere for a more polished and satisfying strategy experience until significant improvements are made to this title. Really easy to pick and comfortable game. I wish it could be more complicated than it is right now but I give a thumb up.

This is barely a game. Not worth even a dollar
