Warning: AI Slop This game is almost completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content, in game audio, marketing materials and visuals are slop.
"Gorf the Frog" is a ripoff of Frogger (Copyright Konami, 1981). The concept, mechanics, and visual direction have been plagiarised wholesale from the original. At this stage no legal action has been taken by Konami against the "developer" here, but it's never off the table, as previous copyright law cases have shown. This is almost entirely vibe coded AI slop. They did vibe code in a "progression" tree that doesn't add anything of value... Frogger doesn't need a talent tree. Aside from the obvious ethical problems with just copying someone else's game, the least you could do if you're going to steal an idea is do it better than the original. Gorf the Frog is noticeably worse than Frogger in every meaningful way. DIG Games have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. As mentioned, this features really godawful, "wrong" looking AI slop instead of genuinely and sincerely created game assets. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating real game assets or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision. AI slop sticks out like a sore thumb... and it comes across as insulting. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too, and that's glaringly obvious here. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. The very poor quality of this game puts it squarely on-par with ancient 1990's Flash/Java games, and given it's 2026 (and this was released not so far back in 2024), gamers and the industry expect and deserve better than this kind of low effort shovelware. These technical shortcomings push this game below minimum standards for any competently developed modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam? Gorf the Frog is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. This is also competing with over 14,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product. The use of AI slop is a direct insult to gamers and real, ethical content creators and artists everywhere. AI models are trained on copyrighted intellectual property without permission from the owners.
Zadziwiająco dobrze się bawiłam, choć się nie spodziewałam.
Frogger w wersji RPG. Ciekawy koncept, zdecydowanie fajniejsze niż się spodziewałem.
I will preface this review by saying I was the main playtester for this game (the MaNemaJeff guy in the credits), but I did pay for this game and I will give it my honest opinion. This game is best described as Frogger with RPG elements. Graphics and sound effects are simple, cute and mostly fitting. There were a few cases where I wasn't sure what I was looking at, like the third boss, but it's not a big deal. Overall, good pixel art. Game's on the difficult side, with times to get Perfect on a lot of levels being very tight. The controls mostly live up to the precision required, but don't expect something as tight as ULTRAKILL. AI was used for music, which is fine, though I am not the biggest fan of selling the soundtrack separately. The RPG elements are fairly basic. The active skills is where a good bit of creativity can be found, alongside some oppotunities for skill expresion (like jumping over walls using the lick attack). The variety in enemy design is also pretty good, especially considering the constraints of a Frogger game. For a first game, with basically no budget as far as I know, this is a solid pick for an evening or 2. Well worth the little asking price!
Przyjemne soundtracki, dość ciekawa historia jak na 2D (z uśmiechem), na niektórych lvlach idzie się pomęczyć :D
Cudowna historia wspaniałej żaby! Polecam i czekam na drugą część
