About
Armed with a camera and a slingshot, you set out to investigate a tip from your conspiracy theorist buddy -- and wind up uncovering an absurd plot that takes you to nightclubs, Masonic Lodges, dungeons, Area 51, a Titan-II missile silo and THE MOON.
GONZO is a made-for-VR stealth game modeled on classics of the "tactical espionage" genre, lovingly developed by two brothers. Explore a variety of environments in a PSX-inspired artstyle with your two primary tools: a camera and a slingshot -- as well as a variety of weapons and attachments you can find along the way. As you sneak (or brazenly shoot) through 13 levels, take a moment to enjoy the original soundtrack by electronic artist Stress Actual.
Your camera isn't just for gathering evidence -- photograph guards to mark their position and help plan your route as you navigate each level and try to avoid detection. Or hold your camera around corners and check your wrist display to scope out the scene without giving away your position!
Drag the bodies of dead or knocked-out guards somewhere more private to keep them from being discovered and tripping an alarm!
Grip weapons with both hands for stability and aim, eject and load magazines and perform tactical reloads to ensure you never get caught with your pants down, cycle the slide to load the chamber and watch shells eject as you go! Find new weapons and attachments as you progress to help you stay silent and accurate.
Crack dial and keypad safes to find new equipment and restock your supplies as you go -- there's no shop and no airdrop support, you're on your own. We've been told a lot of people keep their keypad codes stored on their computers, maybe check there?
Access computers to help uncover what the hell is actually going on! You may find some useful information too, and while you're at it -- what does that button do?
Hide behind corners, under desks, and in vents and lockers to avoid detection by enemies. Keep an eye out for security cameras -- though they do look pretty fragile..
GONZO is designed from the start to give you an immersive, challenging and fun stealth experience that takes full advantage of room-scale VR. Physically duck and hide, crouch and crawl to avoid detection, aim guns and feel the satisfying stretch of your trusty slingshot's elastic as you pull, aim and fire marbles straight into your enemies' heads.
Inspired by the classics, GONZO puts you directly into a world of conspiracy and stealth (though, plenty of room for run-and-gun if that's your style) -- it's up to you to see how deep this thing really goes..

Reviews
A bit buggy, and very brutal, but overall well made. I've seen countless titles for VR that are just rushed slop or completely dry of content, and this is neither of those. What this is instead is a loving recreation of how stealth games were in the old days, and near-perfectly translated to VR no less. The camera is honestly genius VR stealth game design. Rather than trying to do something complex with a lean system, they just gave the player a camera you can stick out around a corner without being spotted. In addition, it works to fill the role of the marking system, as just taking a picture of an enemy gives em a big red marker above their head. It's simple, effective, and elegant. And fun, for that matter. The stealth as a whole is solid. The indicators of when you're spotted or heard are good. Taking out guards, hiding behind cover, stashing bodies, it all works and feels great. As you get to later levels, you get more tools in your arsenal. I ran into a handful of minor bugs, but no crashes. Mostly simple stuff, like a bit of visual artifacting here and there as the culling zones of certain areas isn't quite set up properly. As I moved from one room to another, I'd see some z-fighting on a couple things, and some items would pop in and out (NOT most rooms, it was like one or two specific doorways that acted as a transition from one part of a level to another). Sometimes, I'd lose the ability to use one or all of the quickslots with one hand, which was always fixed on a level reset. In a few places npcs could hear me when they shouldn't, or couldn't hear me when they should. The biggest and funniest bug I found is that you can walk through walls. Just straight up. Yeah it'll stop you when you move with the joystick, but it doesn't stop you at all when you move in real life. I'll admit, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with just stepping right through locked doors and solid walls was fun, but it was pretty game-breaking, so I chose to avoid it. I will admit though, I don't think this game is for me. I was never into the more difficult aspects of the older stealth games, and after 5 hours it has worn a bit thin. There is precedent, though. This is how stealth games used to be and there are plenty of people who still want stealth games that are built this way. No mid-mission saves, many overlapping guard patrols, instant resets when spotted on certain levels (it did make sense in context), these are some of the things I wished I could change while playing. Mostly the mid mission saves, really. Getting sent all the way back to the start of the level when I screw up just isn't something I'm into. Of course, I don't necessarily want the game to be changed just to fit my preference. Dev(s), if you do make those changes, I'd suggest it be a difficulty option thing. I'm partial to those hyper-customizable difficulty settings in some games nowadays, where you can tune each aspect of the game to your liking. Long story short, it's not just a good game for VR, it's a good game in general. If you like stealth and you can put up with high difficulty and minor bugs, you should absolutely pick this up.
genuinely one of the best stealth games for VR, amazing mechanics i haven't seen in other games, at least not done this well, and funny plot. could use some polishing like better inventory controls but i'm sure all that will be added with future updates. would recommend 9/10 edit: they added movement controls, now just needs a bit of polishing and this is one of the best vr stealth games out there
Very fun
This is a really fun stealth game with a great sense of humor. In the first level alone there are several different routes you can choose between and at least two optional hidden areas which provide some interesting items. Reminds me of Deus Ex in that way. Oh, and head-shotting guards with the slingshot right before they raise the alarm never gets old.
Pretty much as close as you can get to Metal Gear Solid in VR, super cool artstyle and a wild story. Honestly a crazy concept for a game that ends up meshing together really well.
Very fun game! I wish I could play it for the first time again!
Way too buggy and not that good of an AI
Pretty sick VR game with interesting mechanics + visuals. It's a difficult stealth game that's super satisfying when you pass each mission. Awesome game all-around.
For anyone reminiscing on the days of PS1 euphoria this game is for you. Gonzo brings the nostalgia of the PS1 era with its graphics and gameplay to VR and its one of those hidden gems that feel extra special to find. I'm still finishing my playthrough but the dark environments, stealth gameplay, low poly graphics and textures have all come together to give me a great experience so far! Also +1 for slingshot doinks and the levels being challenging.
This is a great game from an indie developer, you can tell they put some great time and effort into it. Fun to play very recommended, hope they add achievements soon. 10/10 worth the play
