if you like the first one, you will love this one
Its a plain fun and unobstructed exploration game, story feels a bit out of place and dialogs try to add detph unfit for the genre and flow. Still, short enjoyable enterntainment.
Got this in a bundle (obviously). This is a combo 3D platformer/puzzle game. This should make it an instant hit, but the implementation is as bizarre as it is faulty. For some reason, making the game story delivery as craphouse as an old dead 1990's 2d pixel RPG seemed like the developers choice for a "great idea". It fails. The environment is 3D, but uses really simple polygons and poor quality textures. Even more bizarrely, the characters in this environment are 2D retro pixel cardboard cutouts. I get that this is the developers attempt at "art", but as always, in any video game, this notable failure to hire digital artists just comes across as lazy. "art" is not an excuse for failing to bother to put any effort into the graphics for a game. Art is not "easy", it's hard work. Review the Sistine Chapel if unsure. The game might have been okay if the developer had put some effort into all aspects of the game... the levels themselves are fairly rich and interesting but the shoddy delivery on graphics ruins any enjoyment. So of course, I can't recommend this one.
Mirror's Edge.
Good
I had my fun.
It's probably not for everyone, but platforming onto random stuff in the distance and finding achievements is very fun.
I have a bad habit (or it is a good habit if I want to go 100% blind into a game) getting interested in games I know nothing about. Just some screenshots and I am ready to go. So, yeah, it came as a surprise to learn it is a VN parkour genre game. You are Loren, a girl who parkour her way into her dreams and reality to find an old friend of hers. Its gameplay is very easy to handle so you won't feel overwhelmed by the big amount of jumping and running. The art direction is an interesting one, and the reason it got my attention in the first place. The environments are in 3D and the characters are in 2D sprites. The characters are likable enough so the plot twist is more impactful. The 'main' plot twist I need to add. As I said you won't feel pressure if you play casually the game, but there are multiple endings which you need to pay big attention to surroundings to trigger them. It is not a game you play only once, that's for sure. If you want to play something different with a lot of depth, you can't go wrong with "Going Nowhere: The Dream". 8/10
I return to this game every now and then, fun play through and more enjoyable if you have played the first one.
