A much easier stand-alone expansion to Goblin and Coins II. Use unlimited continues to run and double-jump through 25 handcrafted levels, and retrieve the recipes lost in the midnight raid from the original game.

Alright. Goblins and Coins II: The Lost Recipes is more GnC goodness. In my opinion, this is mostly easier than the previous two games, and while it is technically an expansion, it's really a full-length stand-alone game. For me, as somebody who rates platformers as the genre I am the least proficient in, I am happy to report that I didn't really get stuck until I got to the Cemetary levels, and honestly, much like a FromSoft game, typically, when you get stuck, it's more about you and less about the game. In my case, I overcorrect on jumps, mistime jumps, and so on, lol. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3319587768 Now, I think the real goal of this game is in fact to collect the Lost Recipes. I've gathered three so far, and while I haven't yet made them in real life, they are in fact actual recipes. It turns out goblins are quite the little green chefs. I appreciate the tie in between gaming and real life. That's a very cool thing. Graphically, it's charming, soft palette stuff where everything is simple and yet well defined, making this a very visually pleasing game. Additionally, this game can very definitely be enjoyed by children, and I daresay they are probably gonna be far better at it than us adults, lol. And yet there is of course plenty for adults to enjoy. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3319576520 The levels consistently add new challenges and new enemy types, and this is done at the proper pace. The game really brings you along so that all the ever-slightly increasing difficulty as you progress is seamless and easy to become comfortable with. A couple things you will need to become good at include jumping or falling into empty space to grab a coin, then using the second part of your double jump to get back onto land, figure out how to properly Mario stomp some critters, and generally gauge jump distances properly. There are five areas and twenty-five levels in this game, so you'll have some time to git gud. :) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3319576716 I do know the developer, and something I truly admire is how he uses the money earned from his games to buy supplies and such for his students. But beyond that, the development process for each of these games is longer than you might expect as he really dials in everything before sending it out into the wild. And it shows. Everything in this game functions immaculately. Jumping is precise, traversal is well thought out, and no challenge is truly unforgiving. In my opinion, and especially if you are a fan of platformers, you should definitely be giving this game and its predecessors a look. The pricing is fair, the game(s) are fun, and the gameplay is tight. Definitely give this a look. For my part, I was glad to have the opportunity to try this game out. This game came across my desk via my Robilar's Reviews curator program, but as mentioned above, I do know the developer and sending me the license via my curator program was more of a formality.
If you found this review helpful and would be interested in supporting my Curator group, Robilar's Reviews, it would be appreciated.
Quality Goblin and Shiny Coins
This third installment in the G&C series is another fantastic addition. This stand-alone expansion to the second game is easier and more accessible to players. The dev has done an excellent job of learning from previous projects and tightening all the mechanics including jumps, hit detection, and level design. Unlike the other G&C games, you pretty much start with everything you need including a double jump. Run and jump to find your way your way through the 25 stages stomping on diverse baddies heads as you search for recipes. The enemies get harder as you progress the game, but are never unmanageable. There are some helpful cauldrons to refill your health as you progress. The recipes you find in the game are actual recipes you can cook in real life, so that's pretty cool. This is a shorter adventure with no bosses. I think having zero bosses may be my only minor gripe. Perhaps it's to appeal to a wider audience, but I would have appreciated at least a boss in the game if even an optional one once finding all the recipes.

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ pros ♥
+Fluid platforming +Tight controls +Actual recipes +Unlimited continues & restarts +Kind & responsive developer
(っ>▬<)っ x cons x
-No bosses
This is a great little gem of a platformer. The dev is a really kind person who reacts to player feedback in a open and nice way. Depending on how you go through your games, you'll either be able to speed through this game in probably 1.5-2.5 hours or find everything in 3-5 hours. Either way, this is a fun title well worth the low price tag. 𝕀𝕗 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝔼𝕟𝕛𝕠𝕪 𝕋𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕋𝕣𝕪 https://store.steampowered.com/app/1515200/Mission_in_Snowdriftland/
Casual platformer. Help the goblin find lost recipes to restore the cookbook. Gameplay: https://youtu.be/Cpj3L-UzEVE The game has 5 locations with 5 levels each (25 levels in total). You need to find 5 pages with recipes from the cookbook. Controls are carried out with 4 buttons. The goblin can run, jump and double jump. You can kill enemies by jumping, cling to rocks, collect coins, find keys and unlock chests. You are given 2 lives to complete the current level. There are no timers or restart restrictions. + Funny goblin. + Dynamic gameplay. + 25 levels. + 5 lost recipes. + Various enemies and traps. + No timers or restart restrictions. + Achievements. - No bosses.
Much prettier and more fluent than its predecessor. Great little platformer.
This game is a standalone expansion for the previous title, Goblin and Coins II. After retrieving all the coins and his precious cookbook, goblin chef realises that some of the pages are missing. To his frustration, those happen to be the ones containing dessert recipes. Since no meal is truly complete without those, our intrepid hero is compelled to go on another adventure and retrieve the missing pages. The game contains 5 chapters, each of which in turn contains 5 thematically similar levels. It becomes apparent very quickly that this game is a markedly more casual experience than the previous installment. The difficulty level is lower, due to, in no small part, double jump being available from the beginning, as well as the unlimited number of continues. There are also no boss fights. All but the most casual players will only notice the difficulty begin to ramp up somewhat in chapter 4, since the precious chapters are mostly a walk in the park. The quest will again take you through various types of environments, all of which are significantly more visually appealing compared to the previous game. The jump in details and the quality of pixel art is obvious literally from the very beginning and is a joy to see. There is also a sense of familiarity and continuity, since many enemies will be familiar to those who have played Goblin and Coins II, along with some new ones. Background music and ingame sounds are also very similar. Gameplay-wise, the game runs very smoothly, with no noticeable glitches or bugs. The one thing that seems to have been improved is the camera, since it appears smoother and less jerky, at least that was my impression. Last but not the least, the game has an achievement system which adds another incentive to explore all the levels completely and pick up all the coins and recipes. It took me between 3 and 3.5 hours to finish the game and complete all 20 feats. Most of them I got simply by progressing through the game itself. My overall impression is that this game offers less challenge than its predecessor. Instead, it is a much more relaxed, cute and altogether more casual experience, perhaps aimed at a wider audience. I heartily recommend everyone to give it a try.
First 20 Minutes Gameplay Here Soooo... Here comes the last installment of the Goblin and Coins series. I had the game lying around for some while and sadly had only time to check it out now. Comparing it with the previous Goblin and Coins 2" this one is almost a child's play. I mean, the sadly removed the upgrade options - which means you can double jump from the start on - which is a minus. Not in a way that game is bad. It's just that the game feels really easy to play - and is by the way...! Anyway, another nice side-scroller which deserves its price. Thumbs Up!
This was pretty okay. As advertised, it's a rather meat and potatoes stage based, reusing the assets from the last one. I replayed levels quite a bit trying to get everything, and while I didn't quite get the results I wanted (a few levels I couldn't get the all coins star and the timely completion one in a single run), for the most part it delivers in being a simple little platformer. A few enemies are kind of annoying, but for the most part the game felt fair (a few bits had margins significantly tighter than the rest of the game, but it never needs to be pixel/frame perfect). While there's a few kinda maze-ish levels that do make optimizing the route for all coins less than obvious, the loopbacks are frequent enough to never feel as daunting as the XL levels in GnCII could get. Oh, and the recipes look like they're probably pretty nice. Need to try them out, though.
It's a nice game.
Goblin and Coins II: The Lost Recipes has some good parts but it's overshadowed by the janky hit boxes. I keep thinking i am about to hit on the right target but end upo losing a hit point. 6/10
