About
Slip, fall, and plunge—
just climb back up again.
Go Up Frog is a 2D precision platformer focused entirely on climbing upward.
A single small mistake can send you tumbling down, but the challenge never ends.
Only your control, focus, and patience
can guide this tiny frog to greater heights.
In Go Up Frog, you must overcome demanding sections
using jumps, dashes, and precise movement.
One small mistake can drop you far below.
But in this game, there is no such thing as the end.
The more you fall,
the more you climb again.

The game's excessively punishing to such an extent that it ruins any possible fun. In the first few minutes of the game, you have to jump, then mid-air dash between two spikes that are exactly one frog's-width apart. If you mistime the dash and hit a spike, you get bounced through a chain of spikes and lose a big chunk of progress. I can't even imagine how ridiculous it'll get later on if the start's already that bad. Everything makes you lose huge chunks of progress, with many failures being designed to send you all the way back to the start of the level. I found a cool secret area. I had to jump onto a rapidly moving platform in there. When I landed on it, it instantly threw me into some spikes that were previously off screen before I could even look around to see what I needed to do. Those spikes predictably sent me into a spike chain that went directly back to start. If I'm going to need to do any precision platforming, you at least have to let me see what I have to do so that I can plan my jumps. Surprise instant kills are not fun, interesting, or challenging. During the I Wanna Maker campaign, I'd stare at the screen for a minute or two sometimes to plan my route. Here, I just die without even knowing what happened. Both games have extremely challenging platforming, but it feels great in that one and horrible here. Also, when I die in I Wanna Maker, I instantly respawn at the latest checkpoint. I don't have to spend 20 seconds watching my guy slowly bounce through a series of 12+ spikes until he finally ends up back at start. I value my time, and I don't value games that treat my time as worthless. A game with this sort of pixel perfect precision platforming absolutely needs checkpoints. It's a bad game without them. The long bounce sequences are just insulting. The actual platforming felt great. The game also had nice settings (rare in an indie) and recognized my ancient Logitech Precision controller, and I can probably count on one hand the number of games that do that. It's a shame all that polish is wasted on a game with such terrible level design.

This game teaches you how to self control
