way shorter than the other game but still very challenging

Podobnie do pierwszej części.
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams – Rise of the Owlverlord is an impressive standalone expansion that successfully builds upon the fast-paced platforming mechanics and imaginative world introduced in the original game. Developed by Black Forest Games and published by Black Forest Games together with HandyGames, this adventure offers an entirely new campaign that feels substantial rather than a simple add-on. It delivers an experience that combines demanding platforming, inventive level layouts, and striking artistic design while maintaining the unique identity that has made the series memorable. Players who appreciate precision gameplay and creative mechanics will immediately recognize the care that has gone into every aspect of the expansion. The defining feature remains the ability to instantly switch between Giana's two contrasting personalities, each possessing distinct movement abilities and transforming the surrounding environment in real time. One form emphasizes agility, graceful aerial movement, and controlled navigation, while the other focuses on raw speed, powerful attacks, and destructive momentum. This mechanic goes far beyond a visual effect, as every level is carefully designed around frequent transformations that are necessary to solve environmental puzzles, avoid hazards, defeat enemies, and uncover hidden paths. The constant switching creates a satisfying rhythm that keeps every stage engaging from beginning to end. The campaign introduces an impressive variety of new levels, each offering its own ideas without becoming repetitive. Early stages gradually introduce fresh mechanics before steadily increasing the complexity of obstacles and platforming sequences. Every environment encourages players to experiment with different approaches while rewarding precise execution and exploration. Hidden collectibles, optional challenges, and alternate routes provide additional replay value for those aiming to fully complete every stage. The level design consistently demonstrates creativity by presenting new twists on familiar mechanics instead of relying on recycled ideas. Boss encounters also receive considerable attention throughout the adventure. Rather than simply serving as damage-focused battles, each confrontation requires players to understand movement patterns, switch forms at the right moments, and react quickly to changing attack phases. The final confrontation with the Owlverlord delivers a satisfying climax by combining everything learned throughout the campaign into a challenging but rewarding encounter. These battles feel like natural extensions of the platforming mechanics instead of interruptions to the gameplay. Visually, Rise of the Owlverlord continues to showcase exceptional artistic direction. The dreamlike environments feature vibrant colors, imaginative landscapes, and detailed backgrounds that constantly shift whenever Giana changes forms. Entire sections of each level transform instantly, altering both the appearance and structure of the environment without interrupting gameplay. This seamless visual transition not only creates a distinctive aesthetic but also serves an important gameplay purpose by changing platforms, hazards, and routes in real time. The polished animation and visual effects further enhance the sense of speed and fluidity throughout the adventure. The audio presentation remains one of the game's greatest strengths. The soundtrack, composed through the collaboration of Chris Hülsbeck and Machinae Supremacy, dynamically changes alongside Giana's transformations, blending melodic orchestral compositions with energetic rock and metal influences. This interactive musical design reinforces the contrast between the two dream worlds and adds excitement to every platforming sequence. Combined with satisfying sound effects and responsive audio feedback, the soundtrack becomes an essential part of the overall experience rather than simple background music. The expansion also succeeds because of its tight controls and responsive gameplay. Every jump, dash, glide, and transformation feels accurate, allowing players to tackle increasingly demanding platforming sections with confidence. As the difficulty escalates, success depends almost entirely on player skill and practice rather than luck. Although some later stages become extremely challenging, the game remains fair by clearly communicating hazards and providing checkpoints that encourage persistence without significantly reducing the sense of accomplishment. While the steep learning curve may discourage newcomers or players looking for a more casual platforming experience, fans of skill-based games will likely appreciate the rewarding progression. Mastering each level creates a genuine feeling of improvement, and repeated attempts rarely feel wasted because players gradually learn more efficient routes and better timing with every run. The expansion embraces challenge without becoming unnecessarily frustrating, making every completed stage feel well earned. Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams – Rise of the Owlverlord stands as an excellent example of how an expansion can meaningfully extend an already strong foundation. Instead of simply adding more content, it introduces fresh environments, creative mechanics, memorable boss battles, and increasingly sophisticated level design that constantly encourages players to refine their abilities. Its outstanding presentation, polished gameplay, and inventive use of its signature transformation mechanic make it one of the more rewarding platformers available for fans of the genre. Rating: 8/10

Looks great. More of the same though. Super frustrating and repetitive. I think people really into platforming might like this, but I guess I am just not feeling the little girl special needs sounds. I am sure a ton of work went into this. Music is even repetitive. Basically, I am too old for this crap. I think the most annoying thing is that it's a ton of trial and error. Look. I get it to a degree, but there are a ton of instances where I think I can jump somewhere, but nope, I guess I just die there for reasons. I will give this a thumbs up just because I think this is mostly just not my thing and that's not the developer's fault.
