Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island

Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island is a decent point-and-click adventure inspired by the Monkey Island series. It has a decent story played through 3 distinct characters, that must help each other. You can also switch between their sections if you’re stuck. The graphics are alright; however, the resolution options are very limited. The game performance is meh, with the game crashing for me a few times. It’s not a long game, but it’s not short either, especially because you’ll need a lot of trial and error to progress. Finding the clickable areas on the screen is also tricky at times. On sale, and if you like the genre, it’s a decent pick. In the end, it’s nothing special, but I think it’s slightly above average. You can see the work and dedication put into it.

The game is free and simply lots of fun and challenges.

its pretty good given its by a small company, voice acting and the writing can be a bit mi, not as good as duke grabowski which had better writing and voice acting. i think is made by the same people? the games use some of the same models so think its the same team. but is a fun enough to be worth playing has a interesting world and good point and click. does have a crashing problem when loading something though so save regularly. Also some of the volume control is WAY off between characters lines.

I played it on its first day of release (2009 I think), I have the physical edition and it's fabulous!

There is nothing horribly wrong with this game, but it's just so boring. Everyone talks very slow, you can't skip dialogue, you can't even cancel actions (accidently pressed something? you have to watch your character walk over to it and comment on it). The idea is pretty interesting, having three characters who are ghosts and have to help each other without ever swapping items or meeting each other for puzzles etc. The execution is just what is what's holding it back. The game is also highly inconsistent in terms of puzzles and gameplay. Very early on it's said you shouldn't walk on water as a ghost, because you'll sink to the bottom and never get out. Not much later two ghost characters just casually swim in the water with no problem. At another point a character won't jump down into the water in his mortal form, because the fall would kill him. 10 Seconds later he pushes two guards down into the water, who survive and then get mauled by killer fish. Absolutely the worst part is that the game started crashing at a certain spot in the game, and I almost gave up. In the end I fixed it by renaming “libpandadx9.dll” to something else. If you have to disable the game engine's dll file to get it working, that's quality right there. The only redeeming thing is that the game is pretty short. Well and the graphics are nice, although a bit too much like Monkey Island 3.

Consiglio caldamente questo gioco ai fans delle avventure grafiche punta e clicca. I difetti messi in luce dalle altre recensioni sono assolutamente trascurabili, visto la storia è carina, i personaggi simpatici e le ambientazioni interessanti. Anche il gameplay è piacevole e gli enigmi mai complicati. Tutto sommato 8 ore di buon intrattenimento!

Une bonne surprise que ce petit jeu d'aventure de pirates. Après avoir joué à Monkey Island on ne s'attend pas à grand chose avec ce genre de jeu mais finalement tout est plutôt bien réussit. Graphismes pleins de couleurs vives, humour, cinématiques, voix, difficulté des énigmes: on en a pour son argent! Ca reste un petit jeu avec une durée de vie beaucoup plus faible qu'un Monkey mais il vaut le détour et l'aventure n'est pas destinée seulement à un jeune public.
