8 min for 100% achievements . If you don't care for the achievements you better buy something else on steam ;)

10/10, fun game and its pretty cheap. It has a great story that makes you think.

Get Achievements for Achievements, developed and published by Dnovel, is an unapologetically self-aware indie title that transforms the pursuit of achievements into the game itself. It abandons traditional gameplay loops, storylines, and challenges in favor of a single, absurdly simple objective—to earn achievements for the sake of earning achievements. In a gaming culture obsessed with completion rates, perfect runs, and digital bragging rights, Dnovel’s creation feels like both a parody and a mirror. It’s an experience designed less to be played and more to be reflected upon, simultaneously indulging and mocking the compulsive collector mentality that has grown alongside modern gaming ecosystems. The premise is as straightforward as its title suggests: you open the game and begin unlocking achievements. There is no sprawling world to explore, no battles to fight, and no puzzles to solve. The very act of launching and interacting with the game triggers a cascade of rewards. This simplicity feels almost rebellious—by stripping away everything that usually surrounds achievement systems, the game exposes how hollow or mechanical that pursuit can become. Yet, paradoxically, that very emptiness is what makes it fascinating. It’s a game that functions like a performance art piece, offering commentary on how the gratification of digital rewards can often eclipse the experience of playing itself. The achievement notifications pop up one after another, and while the satisfaction is fleeting, it captures a fundamental truth about player psychology: the thrill of progress, even when the progress means nothing. Visually, the game is intentionally barebones. Its pixel art style and minimalistic interface evoke nostalgia for simpler gaming eras but also emphasize that presentation is secondary to concept. The simplicity of its aesthetic mirrors its mechanical design—there is nothing to distract the player from the act of collecting. Each menu, background, and sound cue reinforces the idea that this is not a world to inhabit but a framework for self-aware repetition. In that sense, Get Achievements for Achievements becomes a playful deconstruction of what players have been conditioned to expect from interactive entertainment. By removing story, character development, and challenge, it forces attention onto the psychological feedback loop that underpins modern gaming reward systems. While on the surface it appears to be a one-note joke, the game works as a sly satire of modern gaming’s obsession with artificial progression. In countless major titles, achievements exist as padding, as motivators to make players engage longer or feel a sense of completion. Dnovel’s game inverts that formula: instead of achievements being the reward for playing, here they are the entire experience. For some, this inversion is a stroke of genius, a commentary that is as absurd as it is accurate. For others, it’s little more than a novelty that wears thin after the initial humor fades. The lack of interactivity or challenge means that there is no traditional sense of accomplishment, yet that may be precisely the point—the game exists to make players question why they crave those little digital affirmations in the first place. The brevity of the experience is both its strength and its weakness. It’s a short-lived burst of amusement that might last only a few minutes, during which players unlock a flood of achievements and then sit back, bemused by how quickly the game’s promise has been fulfilled. For completionists, this can be an oddly satisfying rush, an instant hit of dopamine with no effort required. For others, it may feel hollow, as if the joke lands too quickly and leaves nothing behind. But to interpret that emptiness as failure would be to miss the underlying satire—Dnovel is holding a mirror to the player’s own expectations, revealing how meaningless the cycle of digital achievement can feel once the illusion of challenge is removed. Despite its minimalist execution, Get Achievements for Achievements achieves a surprising level of engagement through irony alone. It is not fun in a traditional sense, nor is it intended to be. Instead, it operates as a commentary on how the culture of gaming has evolved into systems of quantified validation. The player’s relationship with achievements—once symbols of skill and mastery—has turned into something mechanical and automatic, and this game captures that transformation with a wink and a smirk. It’s less about winning and more about realizing that the act of winning has become a hollow ritual. Ultimately, Get Achievements for Achievements is an experiment disguised as entertainment. It doesn’t aspire to challenge players, immerse them in story, or even provide fun in the conventional sense. Its success lies in how directly it exposes the gamification of achievement itself. To some, it will be a clever joke that lasts a few minutes; to others, it will be a pointed commentary on player behavior and digital culture. Either way, it serves its purpose perfectly—delivering a hundred achievements and a handful of quiet questions about why we chase them in the first place. Rating: 8/10
