so basically this is a fkn horrible time most of the time for me the breaking point is the random cut scenes in the middle of the missions. if you accidentally left click and skip it you will break the mission and these happen alot forcing you to remember when the scene starts and whats going to happen if the scene spawns the bad guys they wont spawn if you skip and mission will just be in limbo supposed to get control of something but you skipped cut scene well guess what its not yours anymore and you need to abandon the mission and restart. i had to play the first mission 6 times just because of this bug. not a fun time
Gemini Wars is an ambitious real-time strategy title that aims to depict large-scale interstellar conflict through deliberate pacing, layered systems, and a campaign-driven space opera framework. Developed and published by Camel 101, the game positions itself firmly within the classic RTS tradition, but with a noticeably slower and more methodical rhythm than many genre contemporaries. Rather than emphasizing rapid micromanagement or constant action, Gemini Wars focuses on long-term planning, fleet composition, and the careful orchestration of space battles that unfold across star systems. The campaign serves as the backbone of the experience, casting the player as a disgraced commander pulled back into a galaxy-spanning war within the Gemini sector. Story beats are delivered through mission briefings and in-game objectives rather than cinematic presentation, providing context and motivation without dominating the experience. Missions are structured around reclaiming systems, defending key locations, escorting valuable assets, or dismantling enemy strongholds, gradually introducing new mechanics and ship classes as the conflict escalates. While the narrative is functional rather than emotionally gripping, it succeeds in framing the strategic decisions players make and reinforcing the sense of participating in a prolonged, attritional war. From a gameplay perspective, Gemini Wars emphasizes traditional RTS fundamentals: harvesting resources, constructing space stations and shipyards, researching upgrades, and commanding fleets composed of varied ship types. Frigates, cruisers, carriers, and capital ships each fulfill distinct roles, and success often hinges on assembling balanced formations rather than overwhelming the enemy with sheer numbers. The inclusion of boarding mechanics adds an extra strategic layer, allowing players to capture enemy ships or stations instead of simply destroying them, which can shift the momentum of a mission if used effectively. These systems suggest depth and ambition, even if their execution sometimes falls short of their potential. Combat is where the game’s deliberate pacing becomes most apparent. Space battles tend to be slow-moving affairs, with fleets lining up and exchanging fire over extended periods. Ship movement lacks a sense of urgency, and repositioning forces can feel cumbersome, particularly on larger maps. For players who enjoy watching strategies play out like a drawn-out chess match, this can be satisfying, as positioning and preparation matter more than quick reflexes. For others, the lack of dynamism can make engagements feel static, especially when battles devolve into prolonged exchanges with limited tactical variation beyond initial setup. Visually, Gemini Wars reflects its indie origins. Ship models and environments are serviceable and communicate scale effectively, but they lack the polish and spectacle of higher-budget space RTS games. Explosions and weapon effects convey impact without being particularly memorable, and interface elements can feel dated or unintuitive. These shortcomings do not render the game unplayable, but they contribute to a sense that the presentation struggles to fully support the scope of the ideas behind it. Performance and AI behavior can also be inconsistent, occasionally undermining the strategic depth the game is trying to offer. Outside the campaign, the game includes skirmish and multiplayer options intended to extend replayability. However, these modes never achieved the same level of prominence or refinement as the single-player experience, and much of the game’s identity remains tied to its campaign missions. The technology tree and progression systems encourage experimentation, but balance issues mean that some strategies or upgrades feel less impactful than others, reducing the incentive to explore the full range of options available. Overall, Gemini Wars is a game defined by ambition and restraint in equal measure. It presents a thoughtful, slower-paced take on space-based RTS combat that prioritizes planning and scale over immediacy and spectacle. At the same time, its pacing issues, limited tactical variety, and lack of polish prevent it from reaching the heights suggested by its design. For players who enjoy methodical strategy games and are willing to tolerate rough edges in exchange for scope and atmosphere, Gemini Wars offers moments of genuine engagement. For those seeking a faster, more refined RTS experience, its deliberate tempo and technical shortcomings may make it a difficult recommendation. Rating: 4/10

Sins of the Solar Empire и Haegemonia: Legions of Iron: для увеличения численности войск и притока ресурсов вам необходимо колонизировать планеты, хотя в Gemini Wars бывают разноплановые уровни, и не всё привязано к околопланетным действиям.
Ancient stuff. But it's fun.
It's slow and involves a lot of grind. Especially as the game progresses and the levels grow larger. But it's an overall nice strategy game with a cool feature, the action in different systems at the same time. Engagements get really big and nasty. It's nice.
Does not start in Windows 11. can this be fixed?
A space opera strategy game from the golden years of the early 2010s, when there were plenty of options to choose from. There aren't much these days, but we can always revisit some classics. This one is a bit rough around the edges, but it's solid and fun to play. It has slow buildups where you have to grow your forces while keeping the enemies at bay, but then it gets intense when you gather a large fleet. You might get the upper hand, but you can lose everything quickly, if another enemy battlegroup arrives in the system. Ships jump from system to system, and have to recharge the engines before jumping again. Multiplayer is dead of course, but it has a lengthy campaign and skirmish battles against cpu.
It's nice. Reminds me of an old top-down strategy game where ships could enter portals and jump to other systems. This one has a similar mechanic. Aging but still good enough to play a few battles.
