"Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity®" is an ancient game from 2010. It's a whopping 14 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for the typical features of modern gaming PCs, hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on contemporary machines. The game looks and feels dated. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an old game. This seems to have be lingering on Steam with an inflated price to try profit from abandonware. One would think a sweeping space RTS with a scope that makes Homeworld look like Space Invaders would be a slam dunk, but this is from Stardock, so there's a whole bunch of unforced errors from these clowns. The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. It's possible they developed this using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this game has been specifically designed for people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming. Widescreen gaming was well into the gaming sphere in 2010 when this was released... there's just no excuse. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? "Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity®" is relatively expensive for an abandonware nostalgia gouge, at $10 USD, and it's not worth it. The game is just too old, hasn't been modernised. And as the old saying goes, you can't go home again. This is also superseded by Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion... it's unethical when developers deliberately make their game obsolete and still try to scam gamers into buying an old, dead, deficient version. This kind of thing simply isn't okay. For comparison, the $10 asking price for this game could get you much more modern and properly maintained games like "Stellaris", "Bioshock Infinite" or "Lethal Company". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
Вроде классное. Но не зашло... Обучение прикольное, а дальше ничего... Компании нет, а просто сражения мне показались скучными. Но это реально классное и попробую затянуть себя в другие части.
This is a classic game, and the best version of it. I regard Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity and European Wars: Back to War as the two greatest games of all time.
Just a datapoint: This installed and launched fine for me with the default steam settings on Linux Mint. And the other reviewer who said there are only a few skirmish maps is not completely correct; there’s also a random map generator. Some of the UI and graphics stuff is decidedly dated and makes me appreciate newer games. But still, it is what it was, and that’s why I bought it rather than one of the remakes. Now nostalgia, here I come!
I really wanted to like this game, and I know it's sacrilegious for an RTS fan not to, but I just can't seem to enjoy it. It's like a blend of Star Trek: Armada and Stellaris, but without any of the things that make either of them cool or interesting.

Olde Man here...I love the balance of action and building. For me, just the right amount of pressure. Well done.
Неинтересно, боты читерят в бою нереально, пробить защиту планет даже на нормальной сложности после того как появляются старбазы настолько сложно, что не имеет смысла тратить на это время.
Play the new one
Decent game.
