Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Latest in each market: best BR #90, worst UK #90 · 2 markets collected
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4/day in the week to Aug 14 → 33.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Far too many softlocks causing constant checkpoint restarts. This wouldn't be that big a deal if it weren't for the fact that you have to replay full on fights/encounters. Great game but in an unacceptable state. No updates since launch month either.
What they did to act 3 is so much of a travesty I had to jump through hoops to get the original to run on my Xbox One S just so I could play the actually atmospheric version of what stands as one of the singular most memorable acts in the entire game for me. Overall, the AI is completely and utterly broken for this game, if you play co-op or MP only, you'll be fine, but if you do singleplayer you're going to be playing super soldier Macus simulator. It's cute seeing the AI squadmates not move the first few times but this gets especially frustrating the deeper into the game that you get when you're dealing with the split pathways where it's only Marcus/Dom and Dom decides he wants to stare at a wall for an hour. Unfortunate, but, hopeful that E-day will be better, and that this is more just growing pains moving from platform to platform.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I've been a huge fan of the series for ages, and the first game will always hold a special place in my memories, even if it's story is absolutely cheesy and just... void of substance in comparison to all of the others. I wanted this game on Steam because it's quite frankly easier than getting my old steelbook out of the collection and finding a new working Xbox 360, and I was hoping to maybe do a bit of couch co-op with people who've never played the series before. Sadly that's not there. I don't really see the reason in getting rid of the splitscreen co-op either. It was in the original game, and the re-release on Xbox One (which this is a port of). So it's exclusion is honestly baffling. The multiplayer wasn't something I was looking to bother with, as I've been more of a story/horde focused player, but the fact that there's no bot filling, no modern custom games settings, no way to really play other than queuing for casual and competitive matches feels like it's a bit of a misstep. It feels like they were trying to modernize the game with cross platform play, updated matchmaking, modern character skins (as well as pre-order only ones), logging into Microsoft (can't forget that), but they couldn't bother to modernize the multiplayer beyond that? It overall feels like a half-assed attempt at a quick port to get people playing the series again before they release Gears E-Day. I'm still gonna play it until I feel I've "Finished" the game myself, but unless you really wanna see how the series started for yourself, I'd say skip it. If you're looking for substance in a Gears game that's on Steam? Play Gears 5.
this game should be called broken gears its a horrible PC port If your a PC gamer only this game sucks. cover works about 75% of the time your squad mates just plain suck most times they just stand their facing away from the battle or the enemy. they rarly kill anything and definitely dont assist you takes to long to reload some weapons
I always wanted to play the very first Gears of War and now I had the chance to play it without any complications that come with old games, without having to play on Xbox or emulate it. Sorry, but shooters should be played with a mouse and keyboard, and that’s what I did with this first entry. I don't know what else to say, it was just great thirdperson cover shooter action and even though there were a few bugs, reloading the last checkpoint was enough to keep going. I’d even consider this a cozy game, though it's far from it, that's how good it was. I can’t complain, the only thing that would be great is if all the titles were on Steam.
Stop killing original artstyle over washed out "realistic" remakes/remasters
The removal of couch co-op sucks fat balls man, do better.
Всё ещё ждём: - Gears of war 2 - Gears of war 3 - Gears of war Judgement - Gears of war 4 Хватит заставлять нас ждать.
